maddie's voice snapped kelsea out of it.

"guess what?" maddie said, smiling.

kelsea and luke both turned and looked at her expectantly, both her and calum had huge smiles across their faces.

"we're officially dating!!" maddie said and calum rolled his eyes at her cute excitement.

"finally." luke laughed

"yeah, me and luke have been waiting for this for almost a year now." kelsea added, smiling at maddie and feeling happy for the two.

"let's figure out what we're gonna eat. i'm starving." calum said. everyone picked up their menus and the couple had a quiet conversation while kelsea and luke decided what to eat.

kelsea picked up her menu, something she usually didn't have to do at restaurants. she usually would get the same thing everywhere - spaghetti.

"you're actually looking at the menu? it's just olive garden." luke asked with a smile.

kelsea rolled her eyes and grinned a little, "i have to. the only other time i went was with cody..." she trailed off. 'great,' she thought, 'i bet i killed the mood.'

luke's face dropped at the mention of cody, but he played it off with a chuckle and words to fill the uncomfotable silence, "well, they do have spaghetti here. and i heard it's pretty good."

-

"bye guys!" luke said to everyone as he closed the door. maddie and calum waited, looking at kelsea as if they were waiting for her to go out with luke.

"...what?" kelsea said awkwardly.

"you're not going with him?" maddie said.

"no?" kelsea laughed, "i thought we were all going to your place."

calum nodded, "yeah, you said that at the beginning of dinner."

maddie remembered and laughed at her forgetfulness, taking them back to her house.

-

they all laughed for a few hours, passing time with video games and tv. but kelsea knew she had to tell maddie and calum about cody at some point, she didn't wanna talk about it with luke.

"hey, so i think we need to talk about something serious..." kelsea said, making maddie and calum laugh. they were both still in the state of jokes, not realising kelsea actually wanted to talk. when kelsea didn't laugh, they caught on and looked at her with worried expressions.

"what's wrong?" calum said.

"its about cody.." kelsea said quietly.

maddie rolled her eyes, "that asshole?" she scoffed, "please get over him. go for luke!"

"i am over him. i told him we were done, remember?"

"ok... so why are we talking about this?" maddie said.

"we aren't actually done..like i said...its just a break...but i realised how horrible he treated me and how much he hurt me wasn't worth staying. i just don't know how to actually break up with him..."

calum jumped in this time, "here's what you do: talk to him, say 'hey, we're officially over. bye.' and that's it!"

"it isn't that easy. i'm scared of him." kelsea admitted.

"why? its not like he's gonna hit you or something if you leave. i mean, he'll probably be an ass, but..." calum said.

kelsea was silent.

"he's not gonna hit you, right?!" maddie said, suddenly kelsea's expression grew annoyed.

"no! he'd never!" kelsea said with a defensive tone.

"then just do it."

-

kelsea called cody.

cody picked up almost immediately, "kelsea! finally, i've been messaging you and  mes-"

"i'm coming over." kelsea said blandly.

"oh ok! see you soon babe." cody said. kelsea hung up immediately and got a ride from calum to his house.

she knocked on the front door, stomach tied in knots. she was so scared of what was gonna happen. cody opened the door and hugged her really tightly.

"i missed you baby." he smiled. and let her in. he noticed her not replying and awkwardly looked away, "um, i'm gonna grab you some green tea.." he walked away. he always knew what she liked when she came over without her even asking. even after all the shit he put her through, she still thought it was a sweet gesture. but she wasn't gonna let him pull her in again. not this time. he came back, gave her the drink and pulled her into him again. she didn't hug back.

"what's wrong...?" cody asked, a sad look on his face. kelsea looked away.

"cody, we need to talk."
