In the vacuum of space, the humpback continues its journey to Earth. Sierras crew of mechanics finish the repairs to the eagle starfighter. Jack arrives to see the mechanics at work and sees the effort made into the repairs. As the starfighter is transported to the docking bay, an alarm blares through out the ship. Trained starfighter pilots make their way towards the docking bay.
"What the hell is going on?!" Jack asked confusingly.
"Mercenaries were detected outside the ship. Crew members should bunker down until further instructions." Says one of the pilots.
Just then, the mercenary ship releases starfighters to attack the humpback. The starfighters open fire on the hull of the humpback. The defense cannons fire at the mercenaries to no avail for the ships are too fast for the cannons. Soon the starfighters of the humpback flew out of the docking bay. The pilots put up a hefty fight against the mercs.
Meanwhile, Jack rushes towards his starfighter. As he starts the engine, the crew evacuates to the nearest rooms. Sierra turns and sees the starfighter zooms out of the docking bay and into space. Jack fires on the mercenaries with rapid aggression. The mercenaries try to shoot back but miss every shot, the eagle dodging each shot. One by one, Jack shoots down the enemy starfighters without taking a single hit. Realizing they are outmatched, the mercenaries retreat back into their ship and warp away the from the humpback. With the fight over, Jack and the other pilots return to the humpback.
With the starfighters back on the humpback, Sierra and the mechanics begin to repair the parts of the humpback that were damaged during the fight. Medics tend to the injured pilots and crew members. Jack sees a pilot stumble out of their starfighter and catches them mid fall. A sauren medic sees the injured pilot and takes them off of Jacks hands.
"I recommend getting this guy to the med bay quick. I think the fight messed them up really badly." Say Jack, concerned for the pilot.
"We know what we're doing. If you don't mind we have others who also need medical attention. The last thing we need is some nobody barking orders at us." Says the sauren medic with a distrustful tone in their voice.
Jack heads towards Sierra and asks about the sauren medic. Sierra turns towards the medic Jack was referring to.
"Oh, that medic. That is Xel. Don't mind them. They tend to be distrustful toward new people in the ship. They're not a bad person when you get to know them." Sierra says in a reassuring tone.
"Yeah but that's not a excuse to have an attitude. Especially when peoples lives are at stake." Jack says disgruntled.
"They have their reasons. Best to not press them on the matter. In the meantime, maybe you can lend a hand elsewhere." Says Sierra.
In his office, Captain Farron search through the official republic files. He searches through every soldier ever recruited before stumbling upon Jacks file. Right away he notices something off about the official reports. According to the file, Jack Rider is considered "killed in action". As Farron leaves his office, a thought crosses his mind. "Why would Jack be considered dead when he has been alive the whole time? What did Jack know that would result in the republic wanting him dead?" Are the thoughts that run through Farrons mind. As Farron approaches the balcony overseeing the crew, he witnesses Jack lending the crew a helping hand. One thing is certain though, there things both Jack and the republic knows that the rest of the galaxy doesn't know. What that is exactly is yet to be discovered.
