The air in the house was normal but full of anxiety with anticipation, especially for her. Hriday and Anjana had barely had time to settle back into a semblance of normalcy of their relationship when the doorbell rang.

His sister, Meera, and her brother, Rishi, stood on the porch, their expressions a mix of exhaustion from their trip and something else-disdain.

A maid opened the door, greeting them with a tight smile. Jankee heartfully welcomed them with unshed tears in her eyes,

"Meera, my princess, damad ji, welcome. Please, come in."

(Damad ji - son in law)

Both stepped inside, their eyes scanning the room. They took blessings from everyone else in the house and greeted them. The house was quiet, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had filled it before they left.

They were about to comment when she emerged from the kitchen, carrying a tray of tea and snacks. Her face was nervous but lit up momentarily at the sight of her brother and sister-in-law but quickly fell when she saw their expressions.

Meera's eyes narrowed as she took in her bhabhi's presence.

"What is she doing here?" she asked, her voice dripping with contempt.

Rishi's face twisted with anger. "How dare you show your face here. After everything you've done, you have the nerve to stay in this house?"

Anjana took a step back, her hands trembling.

"I... I live here now," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Rishi scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Live here? How did you manage that? Did you manipulate your way in like you did with the property like before? Didn't you be thrown out of this mansion?"

Hriday saw the scene unfolding from the second last step and stepped forward, placing himself protectively between his wife and his family.

"That's enough, Mr. Das. My wife has every right to be here."

Rishi's eyes blazed with fury.

"Right? What right does an orphan have to our family's property? Our father made a mistake adopting her, and now she's trying to steal everything from us."

She flinched at his words, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I never wanted to take anything from you -

"But you did, right?"

Rishi snapped, cuting her off and laughed bitterly.

"A family? You've done nothing but cause trouble. You don't belong here, Miss"
