Later that evening,

In the quiet of the library, the Hriday's footsteps echoed against the polished wooden floor. The scent of books and memories hung in the air as he approached the door to her room. He hesitated, then knocked softly.

The door creaked open, revealing Anjana. Her eyes widened in surprise, and he noticed the medicine file in her hands. She was always the practical one, seeking solace in facts and figures. But today, her expression held something more-a vulnerability he hadn't seen in years.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

He stepped inside, closing the door behind him. "I heard Siya's mother is coming soon," he said, his tone gruff. "Good news, they say."

She nodded, her gaze dropping to the file. "Yes. She's going to be fine."

"And you?" he pressed. "How are you?"

Her fingers tightened around the file. "I've been better."

The room seemed to close in on her as his gaze bore into her. She clutched the medicine file, her heart racing. He was relentless seeing hospital sign on that file, and she knew she couldn't avoid the truth any longer.

"Tell me," he said, his voice low and insistent. "What's in that file?"

She tried to deflect. "It's nothing important. Just some project files."

His jaw tightened seeing the hospital sign on the file. "Don't lie to me."

She hesitated, then took a deep breath. "It's about me. About my reports."

His eyes narrowed. "Why would you keep something like that from me?"

He frowned. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Hriday's gaze remained fixed on hers, his voice unwavering. "Anjana, I swear on your father's name, tell me the truth. What happened?"

She took a deep breath, gathering her strength, "Hriday, there's something I need to tell you. Something I should have told you a long time ago."

He got concerned, "What is it?"

She hesitated, then spoke in a barely audible tone, "I was going to tell you... eventually."

Hriday's curiosity piqued. He stepped closer. "Tell me what?"

Anjana's gaze dropped, and she whispered, "I miscarried... during our separation."

Hriday's expression darkened, anger flashing in his eyes. "You hid this from me? Why?"

Her eyes flashed with a mix of anger and pain. "Because I didn't want to be dependent."
