"I know, I'm late, and I'm-"

Natasha cut herself off when the smoke and smell of burnt fish hit her a second after coming through the door. She ran towards the source, turning off the oven and waving the smoke out of the way after carefully pulling the trays out to set on top, cursing herself for letting you convince her to ditch the smoke detector since she was always burning food in the kitchen whenever you guys cooked together.

But then she saw it.

The horrendous amounts of blood smeared on the other side of the island and all over the surrounding floors that she hadn't noticed, coming in for the other side. Her own blood ran cold at the massive amounts that she hoped with all she had come from you murdering your neighbor and it wasn't yours.

"Y/n?" She called out, searching the rooms and yelling, "Y/n!" Up the stairs before climbing them, searching high and low for you, but not even finding Ollie.

She went to check her phone for any missed calls or messages, but then cringed when she remembered she had to ditch another one when she realized it was being traced and it was somewhere in Philly with how she tossed it in a random gutter.

At the tower...

"I don't know what's happening, Tony!" Bruce was shouting – and he never shouts, "I just know that we're losing her!"

"Do something then!" Tony screamed back with a mix of anger and frustration, the other doctors rushing around to stop the bleeding as your vitals started to fail you, "She's dying and..."

"Get him out of here." Bruce told one of the others lowly and Tony looked at Banner in shock, but ultimately let himself be led out.

He stood outside and just stared blankly through the huge windows before they swung the curtains closed around you, but he had noticed they were pushing a tube down your throat to keep you alive.

"Tony..." Steve's voice came from behind him and when he turned to face the captain, he noticed Bucky standing about ten feet in the distance, his head hung low.

"Someone needs to find Nat," Tony told him after clearing his throat, not making a move to leave your general vicinity until someone else was here you both could trust – his first thought being Happy, "...And Strange."

Steve nodded and backed up before spinning around, tapping Bucky on the shoulder, making him go with him to find the assassin.

But they didn't have to go far before they were running into said redhead in the lobby of the tower.

"Y/n's missing," She hurriedly told them in a panic, "I had to ditch my phone and my backup was..."

She spotted Peter coming in from the other doors with Ollie on a leash, his face drawn and deep in thought.

"Natash-" Steve tried when Bucky still refused to speak, but she didn't let him finish as she mumbled.

"She's already here," She kept her eyes on the curly haired boy as she tried to steel herself, and then peered back up at the blonde, "What happened."

"Tony advised us to find Strange." Steve cleared his throat, wishing he could give her more, and praying with everything he had that she wouldn't have to see you as you were right now.

But it seemed as though his prayers were being answered.

Because the assassin quickly turned around and jogged out of the building before Steve could even mutter out a response.

"I'm going with her." Bucky told him with a grunt and Steve opened his mouth, but nothing came out as his winter boo bear boyfriend ran after her.

The only way Natasha Romanoff would leave the love of her life in this situation was if she knew for certain you were in the most capable hands in the world, and she could help you in other ways.

So, she'd hunt down the man one of those hands said to go after.

"It's something with the time stone." He told her, ignoring the gun she pointed at him, and how she was breathing heavily, but he did nod to the super soldier who was fuming, appearing as if he wanted to tear the sorcerer in half.

"Better give us more than that." She growled lowly and Bucky narrowed his eyes darkly.

"Her powers are connected to it," He explained calmly – a little too calmly for both their tastes, "And when I had to use it to – well, that's irrelevant, I believe it reversed her...abilities."

"And?" Bucky snapped impatiently.

"Everyone she saved, helped, cured, or however you want to put it," He sighed, "They're going to eventually be put back as if she never did...see?" He pointed at the assassin's face as a cut formed and she dabbed it with her fingertips as she winced, keeping the gun in her other hand, "It's already starting."

"But that means..." Bucky trailed off.

"Scott." Natasha finished for him and then looked back to the doctor, "Fix this!"

"I've been trying for the past hour," He grumbled, reaching for another book off the shelf, "It's more complicated than just using the stone to correct everything."

Natasha went and grabbed the collar of his shirt, pressing the barrel of her gun against his heart, and was practically seething as she slowly cocked it, letting the noise echo in his ears.

"She's fucking dying in the tower and if you don't save her, I will fucking kill you or make you wish I had every day for the rest of your life."

"Guess I know where I'm needed." He shrugged nonchalantly and then disappeared with the books in his hand, making her stumble forward slightly.

"What the hell is wrong with that guy?" Bucky blurted out and she just shook her head, tears welling in her eyes, but she was surprised by the hug he gave her from behind since she didn't think he could see them with her back to him.

"If I hadn't taken so long with Jasmine..." She sniffled, letting her guard down only slightly, and he knew not to mention it since you told him she's only ever been vulnerable with you.

He hadn't thought Natasha Romanoff was capable of vulnerability before you let it slip.

"You were protecting her from her ex." He told her firmly when he released her, and she turned to face him.

"What good is that now?" She shook her head and he sighed.

"You finished the job though, right?"

"Yeah," She nodded, crossing her arms, and glancing away, "The lower ranking moles are eliminated."

"Now just for the two at the top."

"Not going to be easy," She was saying as they left Strange's place, "And thanks for the help, Barnes."

"Hey, what're future best men for?"

"Uh..."

"What?" He chuckled, "You said you were going to-"

"It's the best man part," She cringed, and he looked offended, "It's just that I've known Steve for a lot long-"

"Oh, you've gotta be shitting me."
