Well the only thing to say is this... You'll be shocked and in all honesty might hate me when you finish reading. This should be longer than other updates thought.

Chapter 4: FRIDAY NIGHT

Momma insisted she choose what I wear out on my date with Krystal so while she went through my wardrobe I showered and shaved. The week had gone great. I was in a better place than I was when Rose left me. I still hurt, but it wasn’t an incapacitating pain in my heart anymore. Rose was my love once, but she chose not to be mine and I had to live with that.

I hadn’t heard from any of my old friends in the past two weeks since they left. That was a letdown. Part of me really wished they would call me or e-mail, but part of me wished they didn’t because I didn’t want to be badgered to go back.

Dimka was doing a little better. He got along great with Paul and Viki, but he still called for Marie in his sleep. It hurt so much more when I thought about my little girl. I’d only known her a short time, but she was my baby girl and I loved her more than my own life.

My thoughts were stopped abruptly when I heard momma’s voice through the bathroom door. “Your outfit is sitting on the bed.” Sure enough, when I got to my room the outfit was out. It was a tan sweater and dark denim jeans. NICE! I thought and happily changed out of the towel I was in and into my clothes. “DIMITRI! DOOR!” Momma called and Dimka burst into my room.

“Daddy, Miss Krys is at the dowr. She pertty!” He cried out. I smiled and hugged him close. “Does she make yew happy?”

“Yeah, she does, but we are just friends.”

“Just fwends?” he asked. “Yew stiw lub me?”

I kissed his cheek and gave his other cheek a raspberry kiss. “Always, you’re my boy. I love you.”

We were downstairs now and I still had Dimka in my arms. Krystal was standing there in a purple, knee-length dress with her brown hair pinned up in an intricate pattern. “You look wonderfully beautiful!” I greeted her and watched her smile.

“You look dashing. Hello Dimka,” she greeted my boy. Surprisingly, when she found out about him she didn’t freak out.

“Hewo, Miss Krys,” he greeted and gave a wave. After a few minutes of chatting with my family members we left for our dinner.

As the date progressed, we ended up holding hands on the table while we ate and chatted. I told her about Rose and my past life. Her, being a dhampir choosing to live a human life, understood what I was talking about. I could tell that the stuff with Rose and Tasha really bothered her, but was shocked when she told me she went through something similar with her ex-boyfriend. We were just about to order dessert when my phone beeped. “You going to answer that?” Krystal teased.

“Belikov,” I answered without checking the caller id.

“Belikov, this is Lissa.” I already knew by the voice who it was.

“What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know how to say this, but I certainly hope you are sitting down.” I confirmed that I was. “Dimitri, Rose…” she gasped. “Rose killed herself. Marie is begging for you to take her in, but I don’t know if you want to since you have your hands full.” She sobbed. “I’m so sorry Dimitri. It was sudden. Everyone around here didn’t even see this coming. She’s been so happy the past few weeks. Her and Marie have been inseparable.”

My Roza. Roza. Roza. Gone. I looked at Krystal as tears fell from my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. “Lissa, I’ll take Marie. She’s my girl. I know I have Dimka too, but Marie is my daughter and I won’t see her go to someone else to live with.” I choked out. My hand was squeezed and I looked back at Krystal.

“This might be too much to ask, but will you speak at her funeral?” Lissa asked me.

Taking a breath, “She was my life, Lissa. I’m sure I can find things to say about her. Yes, I’ll be at her funeral and please have Marie ready to leave too.” We finished arranging everything. I had a plane tomorrow morning that would take me to Court.

“What’s wrong?” Krystal asked me.

“That was the queen. Rose killed herself. The queen said it was sudden and very unexpected. Said she’s been so happy lately. My daughter, Marie, is begging that she come to live with me and without any questions I’m going to care for her as much as I care for Dimka.” Expecting Krystal to leave me then and there, I put my head down.

“I’d be happy to help with anything at all.” She told me and came to my side of the table to hug me. “What do you say we get out of here, go get Dimka, and get some ice cream so you can explain why you’re leaving for a few days without him?”

I nodded, paid the check, and took her hand in mine. It was soft and quite small in my hand, but I liked feeling her company. We got back to my house and I went to tell momma what happened while Krystal went to find Dimka. Momma held me while I cried a little before she urged me to go find Krystal and Dimka and have a treat.

“Baby,” I pulled my, now ice cream covered, boy into my lap. “Daddy has to go away for a few days.” I told him. “I’ll be back though and Marie will be with me.”

“What happen to Rose?” he asked.

“She died.” I whispered.

“She went to be with momma?” He asked as he started to cry. “But she was so nice.”

I would like lots of comments! Please tell me what you think and how you feel about Krystal. Should she stay or go?
