Chapter 3- Miss Krystal
The next day at work I went to the gym early again, only to see a young woman doing cool down stretches. She looked at me and I watched as she shook out her long brown hair before pulling it back into a pony tail. She was shorter than me by quite a bit, but when she looked at me and I saw her deep brown eyes and freckles across her nose, well honestly, my heart stopped and I couldn’t breathe. And when she smiled at me, DAY-UM!
“Hi there,” she greeted. “Sorry, I know I’m in your class room. I just needed to workout for a bit.” She told me as I walked towards her.
With I smile, I reached my hand to her. “I’m Dimitri Belikov and it is quite alright that you were in here. I am early.”
“I’m Krystal. I teach Literature just down the hall.” We shook hands and there was a jolt that went through my hand, up my arm, and into my heart, making it give a squeeze. “Would you like to sit with me at lunch?”
“I’d love to.” We set up a meeting place after we realized we both had a free period before lunch. Krystal flipped her hair and batted her long eyelashes while smiling shyly before walking away. I went through my morning classes in a breeze. Killi and Tyler flirted shamelessly, but when it came time for the exercise they went straight to work without me asking them to pay attention.
I was excited for free period and lunch. I couldn’t get Krystal’s face out of my mind. Free period finally came around and Krystal came through the gym doors five minutes later. “Sorry, one of my students decided to flirt horribly with me and I couldn’t get away.” She giggled.
“Flirting really annoys you, huh?”
She blushed. “Not if the right person is doing it,” was the remark from her gorgeous lips. “Should we get going? I know a really great place to eat that isn’t too expensive?”
I smirked. “How about we go to my house and I cook you something instead? It’s free. We won’t be alone and I won’t try and pull any tricks on you.”
“Sounds better than my plan,” she looped her arm through mine and we left. I opened all the doors for her on the way to the car and even the car door. It was nice to watch her blush instead of making a snarky comment about how chivalry died ages ago.
When we reached my house, I let us in and saw it was only my mom home with Paul. “Momma, I’d like you to meet Krystal. Krystal this is my mom and nephew Paul. I’m going to make us lunch today, if that is okay with you?” I finished like it was a question.
“I’m fine with it so long as you clean up after yourself and make me your famous baked spaghetti.” Momma smiled and shoed me into the kitchen. Krystal followed me into the kitchen and looked in awe of the room.
“Wow, this kitchen is great.”
“My mom is almost always in the kitchen.” I explained as to why it was furnished better than the rest of our house. Krystal offered to make garlic bread for our meal along with what I was making.
Lunch was delicious and very casual. Momma seemed to really like Krystal and that pleased me. I was sad when we had to get back to school. “Thank you for letting me intrude in your house Mrs. Belikov.” Krystal hugged my mom and smiled.
“Please, call me Momma, everyone else does. I hope to see you soon.” Momma smiled at her and I led Krystal back to the car after kissing Momma’s cheek.
“Krystal would you like to go out with me on Friday night?”
