Haru POV

Haru's leg shook nervously under her desk as she exhaled an unsteady breath. It was lunchtime now, and in just less than three hours, she would be heading to the gym to officially join the Karasuno boys' team.

As a girl.

She was dead nervous. And of course she had every right to be. It wasn't going to be easy to assimilate into a whole new team in the middle of the year, and on top of that fake her identity. But all that shaking wasn't just her nerves, it was excitement too. She couldn't wait to see what the team chemistry was like and how they played together.

"I'm back!" Yachi said, plopping down in the seat in front of Haru, snapping her out of her daydream. Their homeroom teacher had called Yachi for a quick chat right after the lunch bell had rung and she just now returned.

"Oh, that was quick. What did Mrs Mizuno want to talk about? You weren't in trouble were you?" She teased, but in reality, Yachi was never the type to be told off by a teacher.

"Not really..." Yachi offered a nervous laugh. "She told me I'm one of the only first-years who hasn't joined an extracurricular yet..."

"I didn't know they cared about that." Haru raised her brows.

"Apparently... She said I'm missing out on learning extra skills. But what should I do? I don't know which club I should join..."

Haru's eyes lit up. "Then how about becoming a manager for the boy's volleyball club?" She beamed. "Wouldn't that be great? Then we would be in the club together!"

"No way! Have you seen how tall and intimidating those boys are?! I'd be swallowed whole..." Yachi shivered.

"Then even better, you can get over your fear of them." Haru grinned. "Come on, it would be so fun! We could be partners in crime."

Yachi bit her lip, looking away as she pondered. "I'd have to think about it..." Haru clapped her hands together excitedly at her reply. "But speaking of the volleyball club how was it yesterday when you signed up? Did they seem nice?"

"Yeah! The captain especially seems really friendly. I haven't met them all but they seem to get along with each other pretty well. I'm introducing myself properly after school today."

"That's nice." Yachi smiled. "I'm glad you don't have to deal with that Kikuchi situation anymore."

Haru offered a half-smile. Though it was true that the team seemed to get along, her mind involuntarily wandered back to the oddly familiar black-haired player who had been off by himself, somewhat indifferent to the team.

And he was also a setter...

No, surely it would be different this time. She couldn't worry about that this early on.

But besides that, she was also concerned as to why he had looked so familiar to her. Had they known each other from somewhere? Perhaps they had been friends when they were young? But Haru couldn't recall him being from her elementary or junior high school at all... And she hoped it wasn't the case as she didn't want to be caught already... Maybe he just looked like an actor she had seen on TV. She had to admit he was decently good-looking, it wouldn't have been a stretch.

"I'm going to get something from the vending machine, do you want anything?" Yachi asked, interrupting Haru's thoughts.

"You just came back, I'll go instead." Her habits as an older sister surfaced.

"That's okay-"

"It's fine, I've already had lunch anyway. You haven't even opened yours." She gestured her head to Yachi's unopened bento on her desk.
