Nakita

As the last bell rung, I ran out of the classroom to meet Jacob at his locker.

When I got there, he was shoving his books in his book bag and to be honest, he didn’t look to happy.

“Hey Jake,” I said as I leaned beside his locker.

After he closed his locker door, he looked down at me and asked neutrally, “What do you want?”

What’s wrong with him?

“Uhhhh….. Jake is everything okay?,” I asked confused.

“No, Nakita it‘s not. I can‘t believe you did that to me,” he said as he stared into my eyes without breaking contact.

“I was just joking around, Jake! You know that. I didn‘t think you‘d get mad at me,” I said as I let my eyes fall to the floor.

“Well, I am mad at you,” he said as he crossed his arms.

I finally managed to bring my eyes back up to meet his and even though he tried to hide it, I saw a sparkle of something in his dark orbs.

Realization dawned on me, and I slapped his arm as I said, “You big jerk! I can‘t believe you would do that to me!”

As I continued to slap his arm, Jacob started chuckling and finally grabbed my hands to keep me from hitting him.

“How did you know I was joking?,” he asked as we started walking down the hall to the front exit.

“I could see it in your eyes! I knew you weren‘t really mad!,” I said as I pushed him into one of the lockers.

“Hey, be nice,” Jacob said as he bumped me back.

I giggled, and shoved him a little bit harder, and he accidentally bumped into a freshman girl who was getting stuff out of her locker.

The poor little girl was utterly surprised when Jacob bumped into her. When she noticed who the person was, she started blushing one hundred shades of red.

I laughed out loud and her shocked face and Jacob’s repetitive apologies, and when Jacob heard my giggles, he turned away from the girl and playfully glared at me.

I squealed and turned to run, but before I could take off, Jacob grabbed me around my waist and started tickling me.

“Jake! Put me down!,” I squealed.

“No,” he replied simply.

“Please!!! Let me goooooo!!!”

“Nope,” he smiled evilly.

“You meanie!!,” I accused as he continued to tickle me.

All of a sudden the tickling subsided, and then I was being tossed up into the air.

When I looked around, the first thing I saw was a green clad back.

“Jaaaaaaake!!,” I whined.

“Kiiiiiiita! Whaaaaaaat?,” he mocked back.

“Put me down!,” I demanded as he started walking in the direction of the front doors.

“Sorry, no can do, Kita,” Jacob replied as he continued walking.

I sighed and decided not to waste my breath. I knew he wouldn’t put me down, so I might as well not struggle.

As Jacob continued to walk down the hallway with me on his shoulder, I saw the curious looks from other students at their lockers and some that were on their way to the front door like we were.
