Dada shrugged. "Fun is one thing, but you guys are not thinking about your future. You're not even looking for jobs or planning your next steps. What's going to happen when you're stuck in a rut forever?"
I rolled my eyes. "Easy for you to say, you've already got a job lined up and moving out."
Dada nodded before sitting on table. "That's because I've been planning ahead. I didn't just coast through college and expect everything to fall into place."
"Why did he always have to be so serious? Didn't he ever want to let loose and have some fun?" I thought
I slammed my hand on the table, making the plates and glasses jump. "That's it, I've had enough!" I exclaimed in anger.
Mom's eyes widened in surprise. "Kriyansh, what's wrong?"
I stood up, my eyes blazing with frustration. "You're always nagging me and Dada always judging me; I'm tired of this drama every day."
Dada interrupted. "Calm down, Kriyansh. We're just trying to help you."
I cut him off, my voice raised. "Help me? You're not helping me. You're suffocating me. And I've had enough."
"Just wait a few months until my results and visa come through. I will leave after that." I continued,
Mom's face turned pale as she quickly moved towards me, grabbing my arm. "Wait what? Which visa? You are also moving out?"
I turned to Mom, "I've already decided to apply to universities outside of India. I was just hesitating because dada was moving out too so you might not allow me but now, I want to get out of this toxic environment and start fresh."
Mom apologised, "Kriyansh, no! we're sorry if we've made you feel that way." She paused "Don't move out please, do whatever you want living here in Mumbai itself "
I turned away, tears streaming down my face. "I was going to stay, but it's my dream to do job in top hospital in America and also I want live my life on my own terms at least for once."
Advik put a hand on my shoulder, but I shook him off. "Leave me alone, Advik. I need some space. And now I think you both should also go home"
Hetvik and Advik got up in hurry and left. Just then, my dad entered and stopped my mom and brother. "If Kriyansh wants to go abroad, let him go," he said. "I support him."
I looked at my dad and was surprised at his words. In my family, everyone had always pampered me, I always got what I wanted. But still, there was a pressure about studying and restrictions on going out.
My mom tried to stop my dad, but he placed a hand on her shoulder. "We can't hold Kriyansh back from following his dreams just because we want him to stay close. We have to think about what's best for him, not for us."
I looked at my dad. "Thank you, Dad," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
My brother was hesitant. "I don't know, guys," he said. "I'm not sure if this is a good idea. What if he creates any trouble there? How will he manage alone there?"
