2.1k wordsMe, Luke and a few other Hermes kids were just in the cabin, minding our own business, talking to each other, laughing a little, when Luke said,
"Lorelei, listen, it's his second day, can you just try and be a little nicer to him? I mean, he's a newbie and he's lost a lot already-"
"Yeah, yeah. You don't have to tell me that when I was planning on it anyway." I say with a sigh. "So, I know he needs his beauty sleep, but is he ever gonna wake up or-"
I get cut off by a scream and Percy shot up. We all looked over, we knew what it was. Those damn nightmares. They'd been getting worse and worse for everyone around camp recently.
Luke stood up and started to walk over to Percy, "You okay?" He asked the blonde.
"Super." Percy said sarcastically, it made me smile slightly. I really don't know why."We all have them you know." I start, and Luke looked over then continued "Intense recurring nightmares, that's normal here." Luke said with a reassuring smile.
"And the day dreams, and ADHD, and Dyslexia." I said building off of what Luke said. "Demigods just...process reality differently than humans do." Luke finished. "For the first time in your life, you're just like everyone else." I said with a small smile on my face.
Percy glanced at Luke, then at me, before speaking up again. "So are you two also-" He stopped himself then tried to rephrase it. "Do you not know who your-"
I knew what he was gonna say all too well, I just tried not to roll my eyes, so I stared at the ground to distract myself.
"Are we unclaimed? I'm not, Hermes is my father. And Lorelei is, um, unclaimed..." Luke starts, I wince when he said I was 'unclaimed', I knew I was, but it still felt like a sensitive thing to talk about and it was just one more thing that made me different from most of the other kids here.
I tried not to let anyone see that it affected me, but I think everyone in the room saw right through that.
"That doesn't matter, we're all on the same team here." Luke finished with a smile, I couldn't even fake one. I mean, I wish I knew who my mom was regardless of whether she's apart of my life or not, I just wish she'd show herself somehow.
Percy looked directly at me when he spoke up again, "Why is that okay? Why do they get to bring us here to just ignore some of us?" Percy asked, talking about himself and maybe also me.
"You spend too much time to figure out why the Gods do whatever it is they do you'll drive yourself crazy," Luke starts, I know he's speaking from personal experience and I can't help but feel a little bad.
"The sooner you stop worrying about that, the sooner you can enjoy what this place actually does offer." Luke said
"And what's that?" Percy asked, me and Luke looked at each other and then I said, "Glory." Percy looked at me and furrowed his brows.

"Demigods have always fought for glory," Luke said as we all started walking out of the Hermes cabin.
"They used to call it Kleos." Lorelei adds looking over at me. "It's like this stuff that attaches itself to your name, makes it bigger, makes it scarier, more important." Luke finished.
