Chapter 28

Luke POV

It had been a couple of hours until the doors opened of Lillian's surgery room, doctors walking out from the room with there heads low in shame as my heart was about to jump off a cliff.

Harry was in my arms at the moment and was currently sleeping along with Arielle and May who were in the pram.

Harry looked like me but had Lily's eyes, I miss looking into her eyes and telling her how much I love her and how much I'd give up everything to save her, how much I'd practically do anything for her. It hurts so much what she has been through, I just hope everything will make her happy again.

"Mr Hemmings?" A doctor said snapping me out of my thoughts As I looked up at him with an expression I couldn't quite make out.

"Your wife..." He said slowly, "she's slowly passing, she doesn't have long left" He said slipping out of his mouth sympathetically.

My baby. is dying.

"How long does she have left?" I choked utterly breathless, I felt like my world had crashed.

"We're not sure, we just know there won't be a tomorrow" He said as I quickly stood up the tears pouring out of my eyes, my whole body became a thunderstorm.

I opening the doors and pushed the pram whilst carrying Harry into her room where a oxygen mask was on her face and her eyes her closed.

"Lilly?" I asked walking over to her as she managed to open her eyes and weakly smile.

"Luke" She spoke making my heart skip a beat.

Michael and Callie soon came in as he gave me a nod taking the pram as Callie carefully took Harry out of my arms and left.

I practically ran to her wrapping her in my arms as I nuzzled my head into her neck.

She chuckled making me smile as I kissed along her jawline as she grabbed my chin looking into my eyes.

"I love you Luke, thank you for the best life ever" She spoke tears rolling down her cheeks as I whipped them away. "I'm not just saying that" She added taking a deep breath removing her mask.

"You gave me everything, love, care, laughter, children, marriage and a home....your my home Luke. no matter were you go or what you do I'll be by your side, throughout everything. Even if I go, I'll still love you when I'm dead" She said having trouble breathing as I shook my head cupping her face whilst my bottom lip quivered and more tears came.

"Your not gonna die" I said, she's not it can't, she can't leave me if she goes I go.

"Luke stop saying that! I am" she shouted crying as I did to. we both were a mess.

"No!" I said kissing her lips as she kissed back, it wasn't just a normal kiss it was a true loves kiss. filled with everything I owed and she did to. Her mouth opened as we played in our mouths making her chuckle.

"Luke, I love you" She said cupping my face.

"I love you more" I said kissing her all over her face.

"Can I see the kids?" She asked, I smiled and nodded and quickly left to go get them.

Lillian POV

May and Arielle climbed apon the bed and sat I front of me whilst Harry was in my arms awake.

"May and Arielle, I want you to do me a big favour for your mummy" I said as they listened closely to me.

"I want you to look after your little brother for me and your daddy" I said as they both nodded but May frowned.

"Mummy where are you going?" She asked as Luke covered his mouth shaking his head whilst crying quietly as I bit my lip.

"Away for a while" I said as they nodded.

"You'll be back soon?" Arielle asked.

As I didn't answer but only replied with a smile and hugged them both whilst I kissed them both as they both got off the bed and walked over to Luke.

"Harry" I whispered as he smiled and hiccuped.

I'm not gonna see them grow old. but I know Luke will make there lives amazing.

My breathing went odd again as I grabbed my mask and put it on again as Callie took Harry out of my arms as my tank was going off and Callie kissed my cheek as did Michael as they took the kids out the room.

The doctors ran in as my sight went blurry but Luke came into view and pleaded me to stay awake whilst feeling his lips on mine again and again and soon I felt nothing and my vision become white and everything stopped.

Luke POV

My heart stopped beating my body became weak my anger grew as well as my sorrow as I cried.

I couldn't save her. my own wife.

"I'm sorry" the doctor spoke as I shook my head whilst they tried to cover her up as I shook my head.

"No!" I shouted as they left.

She was pale and dead, death had maybe taken over her but not her beauty, she gave me a time of my life, it was almost laid out like a map, our whole life was laid out into two lanes only to be brought together and find new things along this amazing journey we shared.

My love would never change for her. Lillian was my true love and today when she passed away my heart as well as hers stopped but our souls lived on.
