The night drew to a close, and as they left the venue, Wonyoung couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and closure. She and Sunghoon walked to the car in comfortable silence, the evening air cool against her skin.
“Thank you, Sunghoon,” she said as they reached the car. “You were amazing tonight. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
He smiled, leaning against the car. “It was my pleasure, Wonyoung. You were incredible too. Hyunjin didn’t know what hit him.”
She laughed softly, feeling a lightness she hadn’t felt in months. “Yeah, I guess we did a good job.”
They stood there for a moment, the silence stretching between them. Finally, Sunghoon spoke, his voice hesitant. “You know, Wonyoung, I’ve enjoyed our time together. I know this was just a job, but… I’d like to see you again. For real.”
Wonyoung’s heart skipped a beat. She looked up at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. “I’d like that too, Sunghoon.”
He smiled, a genuine, warm smile that made her feel like the luckiest girl in the world. “Great. How about dinner tomorrow?”
“Sounds perfect.”
As they drove away from the venue, Wonyoung felt a sense of excitement and hope for the future. What had started as a simple plan to show her ex she had moved on had turned into something unexpected and wonderful. She glanced at Sunghoon, her heart swelling with affection and anticipation for what lay ahead.
