The location of tonight's race was posted on a couple of forums before being deleted after an hour. Thankfully, Noh In Hyeok was able to catch the details before the post was deleted. Finding places to race was difficult in South Korea, but the organizers always found the best places to hide away from the cops. In Hyeok couldn't wait to show off his baby and win a few races.
In Hyeok had to hide his car in a secure parking garage under his grandfather's name to keep his father from finding out about his evening activities. Due to South Korean laws, In Hyeok wasn't supposed to be driving a car yet. That didn't stop him – and dozens of other teenagers who liked the racing scene.
They'd buy cars from junkyards, fix them up, and then hide them. It was a common practice, if you could afford to buy a car.
In In Hyeok's case, his father never noticed that he took one of his sports cars. His father had several, and a couple were his grandfather's. In Hyeok took one of them right out from under his father's nose. In Hyeok wasn't even sure how the hell he was able to do that when his father was a detective for the Seoul Police Department, but working long hours, Noh Min Shik wasn't paying attention to his children.
In Hyeok gathered his crew together, heading down to the location.
Anyone who went to these races had to be extremely careful – the cops were always out for blood. They would be on high alert if they got a single word about a potential race happening anywhere within Seoul. Some people would take their cars out days before the race and stash them somewhere close by. Normally, that was what In Hyeok would do, however his father was home every time In Hyeok thought about going to the parking garage.
In Hyeok had to be a "model student," pretending to study and being interested in his father's status. In Hyeok and Eun Chae had to keep their noses extremely clean when it came to their father's status and position at the police station. He had recently been honored by the department and a couple of the assemblymen for his dedication to his work and the protection of the people.
In Hyeok and Eun Chae were there when their father was honored, In Hyeok wished he wasn't present in the audience. Eun Chae made him attend, dragging him out to the car and making him dress in a suit.
In Hyeok had to keep up appearance whenever his father was invited out for business dinners where his children were invited. In Hyeok knew the "rules" that Eun Chae drilled into his head. In Hyeok kept his mouth shut unless spoken to directly, he claimed that he'd follow in his father's footsteps once he graduated and completed his military enlistment period. All those things were lies – In Hyeok wanted nothing to do with the police department. If anything, In Hyeok just wanted to work on cars in the future, something his father hated. Unlike Noh In Seong, Min Shik did not take after his father in the car department.
