The funeral for Letty Ortiz was that afternoon.

Damien would be attending from a distance. He wanted to see if Toretto showed his face – after all, Letty used his last name when she became Braga's driver. Damien assumed that they were married. But Damien had to be careful too, the FBI would be all over that funeral. Damien couldn't show his face, or he'd be arrested.

But first, Damien needed to check one thing.

He sat across the street in the parking lot of the closed down restaurant that he used to go to with his grandparents. He had the helmet over his face as he looked at the market. His grandfather's Impala was sitting in the parking lot while his grandparents shopped. Damien didn't make it a habit, but today, he felt like seeing his grandparents. They were the two people that he missed the most after disappearing from their lives. Damien was still a wanted criminal, but with a higher bounty on his head because of his ex-involvement with the feds.

Damien sat on his motorcycle, staring at the market. He was waiting patiently to get a glimpse of his grandparents. If only he could reach out and hug them, explain briefly what happened to cause him to leave abruptly like he did. Damien didn't want to see them hurting because of him.

As he sat in the parking lot, he perked up when he saw his grandmother's freshly dyed black hair. She refused to allow her hair to go grey, but at least she stopped using the box dye and went to a professional since Damien last saw her. When Damien was brought back to California, he made sure to check in on his grandparents before he linked up with Braga. Damien never got close enough for them to see him – and the way he was dressed right now, they wouldn't know he was Damien.

Damien then saw his grandfather; it looked like his knees were acting up thay day. He had his handmade cane that father gave him when Damien was fifteen. He still remembered how In Seong hit his father with it, saying he wasn't that old to need a cane. It looked like those days had finally come.

But the most surprising thing was... Eun Chae was with them. Damien sat there, staring as his sister walked alongside In Seong, carrying one of the bags. Damien was shocked to see Eun Chae in California. He clicked his tongue a few times, trying to process what he was staring at. Eun Chae had threatened several times to come to Los Angeles, but in the end, Damien refused to let her come. It looked like Eun Chae was familiar with the area and her surroundings. Damien wondered how long she had been in California.

Damien reached down, turning the key.

He couldn't stay there a second longer.

Eun Chae turned her head when she heard the roar of a motorcycle peeling out of the parking lot of the restaurant across the way. She saw the man drive off, swerving between traffic before speeding away and out of sight. Eun Chae shook her head, placing the bag into the trunk while her grandfather started up the car to turn on the air conditioning.
