It felt like centuries before it was summer again.

On this day, camp would officially start and Y/N would see her best friend, Annabeth again. Oh, how she missed her. She was also quite excited to see her new friend, Percy, again. Annabeth and Percy tried to iris-message Y/N as much as possible when they were at school. Annabeth had been keeping her up with all the gossip that was going on, and now Y/N has beef with four random kids in her class. Percy had called her a few times because he found this girl in his class cute and wanted to impress her. Y/N told him, "Pretend she doesn't exist. Girls find that really attractive." She doesn't know why she gave him that terrible advice and felt a bit guilty afterward, but what's done is done.

After the quest, Y/N was punished for leaving camp without permission. Chiron did try to convince Mr. D to have some mercy on her. He said, "You, of all people, should understand that staying here for such a long time is just tiring." So Y/N only had to do some chores for a couple of weeks, which is better than the couple of years Mr. D intended to give her.

And actually, Y/N wasn't entirely alone at camp this year. She had been talking with this boy who had shown interest in her before. His name was Matteo and he was a son of Demeter. Matteo had secretly helped Y/N do all the chores she was given. That was nice of him, but over time, he became clingy. Like following her around camp and complimenting her 24/7. The guy even started bringing her her favorite flowers every morning.

That morning was not an exception.

Y/N left her cabin that smelled heavily of perfume, and was met with the son of Demeter, waiting for her with the flowers.

"Good morning, Y/N." He handed her the flowers. Y/N couldn't say she didn't like the attention, but if she liked him? She didn't think so.

"Thank you, Matteo. They're lovely. But some of my siblings have been complaining about the amount of flowers in the cabin." That was a lie. Y/N was the only Aphrodite child who stayed the full year. "So is there any way you could..give them less often?" Y/N asked kindly.

"Of course. Anything for you," he said dreamily.

Y/N sighed. "Right. See you." In the past few months, she has been feeling more like the other kids from Aphrodite. Them who like the attention they're given, but never the person that gives it. Or maybe it's just that the wrong people like them, and they're only waiting for that special somebody to enter their life.

After breakfast in the Dining Pavilion, Y/N made her way to the sword fighting arena, where she'd normally train with Luke. But since he did what he did, Clarisse became her new partner.

"You're late," Clarisse complained.

Y/N checked her watch and scoffed. "Yeah, by a minute. Besides, it wasn't my fault, it was-"

"Matteo?" Clarisse guessed.

Y/N nodded. "That boy is starting to get on my nerves."

"You could.. punch him in the face?"

"I'll keep that in mind." Y/N chuckled and turned her locket into her sword, Aiónia, and the two girls started sparring.

Y/N tried sparring with Clarisse as long as possible but stopped begging when Clarisse started to get annoyed. Because finally, after years of despising each other, they finally didn't want to gouge each other's eyes out. And Y/N wanted to keep it that way. Peace with Clarisse means a peaceful life.
