After Tyson was claimed, the other campers wouldn't stop making stupid jokes about him to Percy, so Y/N tried to make Percy feel better and suggested they teamed up with Annabeth for the chariot race to take their minds off their problems. They figured they might as well go along with the races until they could devise a brilliant plan to save Thalia's tree. After all, Annabeth's mom had invented the chariot, Percy's dad had created horses and Y/N's siblings never wanted to participate so she just always joined Annabeth's team. Together they would own that track.

That afternoon,  the three demi-gods worked out in the arena with the other cabins. Swordplay had always been one of Y/N's talents. She had been training for years with Luke, but then he left camp.

As a child of Aphrodite, she wasn't born with a special talent except for knowing beauty. The Apollo kids had healing powers, the Hephaestus kids were amazing with their hands, the Athena kids were super intelligent, and so on. So Y/N had to try twice as hard to prove she was more than just a make-up doll.

Today Y/N was dueling with Annabeth. They stood facing each other, swords in hand, their eyes determined and focused. The clashing sounds of the swords filled the air as they moved with agility.

"You're dead." Y/N's sword was lightly pressing into Annabeth's neck.

Annabeth groaned. "How come you always beat me?"

"Because you focus too much on offense, you need to focus on defense as well. Let's try again."

That's when Percy walked over to the two girls. He had a confident smirk on his face. "This is too easy, I beat everyone I dueled against."

Y/N cocked her eyebrow. "Did you, now?"

He shrugged. "People don't call me the best sword fighter in the last hundred years for nothing."

"You wanna have a go, then?" Y/N asked

"If you're not afraid to lose."

"I wouldn't be too sure about that.

"Okay then. Let's see what you got, beautiful."

From next to them, Annabeth was watching the scene with a smirk plastered on her face. She was so going to tease Y/N after this.

Y/N and Percy squared off with their wooden swords. Y/N, with a determined glint in her eye, shifted their stance, feet planted firmly on the ground. Percy mirrored the movement, a confident grin on his face.

"Ready, Y/N?" Percy called.

"Always," Y/N replied.

Without another word, they launched into action. Percy moved first, swinging his sword in a broad arc aimed at Y/N's shoulder. Y/N blocked the blow, their wooden swords clacking together with a satisfying thud. Percy swung low, but Y/N jumped back, avoiding the strike by a hair's breadth. Seizing the opportunity, Y/N lunged forward, her sword aiming for Percy's side. He barely managed to block the attack.

In a final, decisive move, Y/N feigned to the left. Percy took the bait, shifting his guard. Y/N swung her sword from the right, tapping Percy's shoulder lightly.

"Got you!" Y/N exclaimed, lowering her sword and stepping back.

Percy sighed. "Well done."

"Oh no. Did I hurt your ego?" Y/N asked sarcastically.

"Maybe just a little bit," he replied with a chuckle.

"It's okay. You can be the second-best sword fighter in the last century."
