Mending Broken Pieces

Chapter 8: Part 2

After pulling into the parking lot the three piled out of the truck and proceed to go into the mall. As they were walking across the crosswalk Neveah reached for Rory’s hand. Phillip also took ahold of Rory’s other hand. Rory took advantage of his position in the middle and hopped up so that his feet were of the ground and both neveah and phillip were holding him up in the air.

When they got into the mall phillip seen how crowded it was and took rory and put him on top of his shoulders and grabbed neveah’s hand,causing her to give him a ‘wassup’ look. “Don’t want you getting lost either.” phillip said responding to the look Neveah had given him. Neveah didn't respond because she knew that; one it was a losing battle and two she knew deep down she wanted to hold his hand too.

With Rory on top of his shoulders and Neveah holding his hand phillip felt like a real family man .

Neveah looked around when they got into the mall she had never been privileged enough to go to the mall they were in. It was so big, there were people everywhere, escalators and glass elevators. It had a dome roof where the sun would shine in and light up the scenery it looked like mall heaven. It was a new environment for Neveah and she wasn't used to being out of her comfort zone.

Neveah turn to look at Phillip, “So where to first?”, she didn’t want him to know that she had never been there before.

“Wherever you would like to m’lady”, Phillip said with a chuckle to break Neveah’s uncomfortableness.

He figured she had never been there before but didn't want to bring attention to that fact and make her feel more uncomfortable. He could also feel her nervousness and just wanted her to feel one hundred percent content with him. On his shoulders, Rory was just a normal kid and got used to the unfamiliar atmosphere. Phillip had to pat his legs for him to stop kicking his chest, all because of his excitement.

“Umm- how about we just walk around for now,” was Neveah hesitant response. She didn’t want to get anything from the mall so she was trying to get Philip to forget.

“That sounds perfect”, Phillip said smiling. “But don’t think that we are leaving the mall without getting you and Rory the things that you need.”

“Phillip-”

“Don’t fight me on this Neveah,” Phillip gave her a stern look.

Neveah knew not to argue with him so she just sucked it up. "Fine."

"Good. Now let's get going"

They walked around the mall for a little while and having casual talk. Nothing in particular but just basically getting to know each other better since they did officially meet twenty-four hours ago. A lot has happened in those hours and Phillip just wanted some peace with just the three of them with no distractions. When they got to the middle of the mall and there was a fountain with water shooting out of the middle and a lot of little lights that made the water change color.
