The river looked like ink, its dark surface absorbing the faint light from the torches lining the bridge. Their flames cast dancing reflections on the water, which seemed to swallow the light whole. Here and there, white foam bubbled formed around the jagged rocks. The water roared as it surged downstream, a relentless, thunderous rush that drowned out all other sounds.

The air was thick with the scent of wet earth and moss, mingling with the faint smoke from the torches. The banks were cliff-like slopes, their steep faces lined with gnarled trees that clung tenaciously to the rocks, their roots exposed and tangled, stretching toward the water as if desperate for sustenance. The rough bark of the trees was dark and damp, glistening faintly in the light. Fallen leaves and twigs floated on the surface, carried swiftly away by the current. Among them, larger branches and debris tumbled along, occasionally caught in the rocks before being pulled back into the flow.

The torches flickered in the breeze, casting moving shadows on the cliff faces, making the entire scene seem alive with shifting forms. The dampness in the air clung to skin, a cold, clammy. (Y/n) gulped, imagining herself dragged along the current, her body battered against the jagged rocks and lost in the water. When she looked at Jungkook, his expression mirrored hers, eyes wide with apprehension.

The two nightblades had reached the bottom of the bridge's supports. They had crawled along the tall grass, every movement calculated to avoid detection, and climbed down the slope to the water's edge. Their hands were now scraped and raw from gripping the rough stone and roots, their breaths shallow to keep silent.

Multiple guards stood above their heads, blocking the bridge's entrance and exit. The sound of their boots crunching on the stone above was nearly drowned out by the river's roar, but to (Y/n) and Jungkook, it was still audible enough to put them on edge.

"How do we get across?" (Y/n) asked the obvious, her voice low and strained with tension. She glanced at the surging water, the white foam hissing and gurgling as if taunting their predicament. The river seemed to mock their hesitation.

Jungkook's brow furrowed in thought, his eyes darting between the guards and the water. He inched closer to (Y/n), their shoulders brushing as he whispered, "We use the bridge."(Y/n) glanced up at the guards again, her heart pounding. Using the bridge in its traditional sense was out of the question; the guards there had to remain untouched and unaware of their presence. Any disturbance could spell disaster.

Jungkook pointed to the underside of the bridge. The structure was old but sturdy, with thick wooden beams supporting the stone pathway above. "We'll climb underneath," he explained.

(Y/n) nodded, understanding the plan. It was risky, but it was their best option. She took a deep breath, steeling herself. They moved carefully; their bodies pressed close to the cold, damp stone of the bridge supports.
