"gimmie that" she takes the cup and wine from his hand
"what, why?" he whines
"i'm not cutting you off bro, chill" she says pouring wine till the glass is full before chugging it down like he did before
he didn't know this but Payden had chugged several glasses of wine prior
"you sure you wanna get drunk again?" he asks
"i am already, plus, do you know how hard it is to watch over those boys? not to mention the fact i'm at a book party while my best friend is on a date with the sweetest guy ever" she says leaning against a table
"what? do you have a crush on her date or something?"
"no, no, no, i'm bitchy, but i'm not a bitch. is it so bad to want to be on a date with a sweet guy though?" she says looking straight ahead
of course she don't like Cam like that, but god she would much rather be on a date with ANYONE than at this boring book party
"Conrad!" Laurel yells out as Conrad looks around before his eyes land on Laurel
"come over here"
he gives the glass back to Payden as he walks over grabbing her wrist so she can come with him
"i think i should leave you alone on this one" she slurs her words, smiling at him
"please" he whines again. god, why is he so whiny when drunk
"Conrad, uh, Payden, this is Cleveland. he's writing a book about sailing but also knows nothing about sailing" the man laughs a bit as Payden gives him a weird look
Laurel compliments Conrad's sailing but she hardly hears that as she's too busy intertwining her fingers with Conrad's hand
"you won a regatta last year, right?"
"came in second, but..."
"ah" the man says. this conversation is far to boring so Payden tries to make it more fun
