"Are you afraid?" Daemon asked Helaena, who laid with him in her bed.
"When Stannis breaches the Gates he will kill everyone who has a place of power. Especially me and my child... Darkfyre might be able to get away but if not then.. her too." Helaena sighed, shutting her eyes tightly, trying to squeeze those thought physically out of her mind.
"Aren't you afraid?"
"I am." Daemon admitted, "Gods I am terrified, but I'm not afraid to protect you, even if it means dying for you."
"Don't speak like that." Helaena scolded, punching his cheeks.
"I mean it, Laena." He said seriously, "I would kill for you, die for you, I'll burn everything to the ground if it meant you were safe."
Helaena saw a certain darkness overcome his eyes for a moment. There she realized that he was being absolutely and brutally honest and meant every word that left his mouth.
"Daemon.. I lo-"
Then the Bells began tolling. It was time. Stannis Baratheon were at their gates.
Daemon kissed his Queen possibly for the last time, before getting up and hopping into his armor.
"I've always hated the bells." Helaena said as she helped Daemon with his armor, "They ring for horror- a dead king, a city under siege,.."
"A wedding." Daemon added.
"Exactly."
A moment of silence, except of course for the sounds that came from putting someone into their armor.
"Varys gave me a map of the city." Helaena said as she spread it out onto the table. "My Ancestors built this city to withstand a siege and provide escape if necessary."
"There won't be a need to escape. I'm sure of it."
"I admire your determination, Dae." She smiled, "But no, escaping won't be necessary."
"I don't know if I like yours." Daemon side eyed his lover, "What are you up to, Laena?"
"Do you trust me as your friend?"
"I do, yes."
"Do you trust me as your Lover?"
"With all of my heart, what is the meaning of this though-"
"Then trust me as your Queen."
Daemon sighed, "What's the saying again? Every time a Targaryen is born, the Gods flip a coin? Laena, don't even think about playing into your Aegon the Conqueror era, you're with child."
"I'm well aware of that fact, thank you." Helaena said.
"Don't get yourself killed, Daemon. I need you on my side." she looked into his deep blue eyes, admiring them for the last time that night before both melted into a passionate kiss.
"I don't plan on dying just yet." He said after placing a small kiss on her forehead before leaving.
The Targaryen waited for about exactly five minutes, counting in her head before sneaking out of the chamber with a black cloak from Daemon. She had to Darkfyre quickly, before it's too late. Using the cloak to pull it over her head, it was much easier for Helaena to blend into the shadows without her hair exposing her immediately.
So far so good.
Helaena sneakily sprinted from one shadow to the other, reaching the entrance of the Throne room where she heard Tyrion's voice. "Remember wait till the ship-"
"Till the Ships are in the bay." Bronn said, exhausted with all this reciting.
"They must be far enough in so they won't be-"
