Myrellie: "I hope you don't mind me asking this, but what guarantee do I have that we can trust you?"
Rhys: "...." He slides both hands in the pockets of his pants and sighs. "Think about it this way. I have allowed you in my Colony, revealed a secret facility containing crucial and very confidential information about our mission to you, explained our biggest insecurities and even gave you a warning about what to expect by attaining this information. If I weren't trusting you, I wouldn't have allowed you inside the Colony in the first place. And if I had to, I would've taken your lives already."

Myrellie stares into his eyes, that inicial gut feeling of distrust and doubt is gone.

Myrellie: "I see. Do you believe the BRT recipe will be useful to you then?"
Rhys: "Imperatively. There has been nothing but failures in the research for a cure, or at least something to halt the progression of the virus within the body. You have just provided us at least 4 months of unending research, if not more."
Myrellie: "I'm glad I could help." She smiles, holding her hand out for a handshake, which Rhys reciprocates with a smile of his own.

Myra watches the situation unfold, but holds her own doubts about all of this, each with a set of questions accompanying them. Was it really right for Myrellie to reveal the recipe she's worked on for nearly a decade of her life? Way before she even considered creating a Colony of her own? She explored the entirety of Anane for that purpose alone before settling where Thibillith now stands.

When exactly did she pass by here? Was the Contamination Zone not around by then? Where did she come from? Why did she need to document so many maps of the Anane region if she was born there to begin with? What about all the maps of anything outside of Anane?? Other regions?? Other Colonies??
Myra believes they're not in the same region anymore, since Zamaton is nearly 3 hours away from the border of the Anane region. Just how much more does Myrellie know? How much more is there to find?

As for Lily, she doesn't seem to be fully interested in their predicaments, since the main point of focus is the challenge of her beliefs. For some strange reason, she can't get what Rhys said out of her head. Why is there nothing special about her? Is all the knowledge she possesses not enough to be taken by the Sacred Armada? Or is it because she doesn't have recurrent splicing episodes where she turns into a monster? Or have fucking moving tattoos that result in the same thing? Is a normal person really not enough to be challenging to strong opponents?

She frowns, not even understanding why she wants to be a target in the first place. Not even understanding what's causing her such frustration.

But this desire..

This morbid desire to
face the same danger as her friends..

To be in the same situation as them..

Why does it sound so appealing...? Exciting...?

Could it be she finds some level of comfort, relatability even, in the idea of facing the dangers of the world along with her friends? Does she understand that just being in their very presence, she faces dangers far worse than her friends themselves?

......

Her and Myra watch as both wardens walk up the stairs and through the trapdoor.
Myrellie's head pops back down.

Myrellie: "You comin?"
Lily: "Yeah." She holds Myra's hand in place, catching her by surprise. "Can you wait a few minutes?"
Myrellie: "Sure, just don't take too long. Rhys has to shut the trapdoor soon.
Lily: "Got it."
