Laylah's POV

My head hurt a little but other than that I felt pretty content. Last night was the first night I hadn't woken up in the middle of the night screaming. I'd been having nightmares again ever since the first day Neil started putting his hands on me. Except the dreams weren't about him. Sometimes i'd relive the day in the locker room. I could practically feel their hands on me and it makes my skin crawl. Other times it was about the night of the car crash. The night I'd lost the most important people in the world to me.

When Drew brought me here last night, for a second I wondered where I was and I started to wonder if this was some kind of trap. I didn't trust them one bit. It wasn't until I started fighting and got him good in the face that he told me it was Vixen's new penthouse. The old me would've felt bad for attacking him for no reason but I wasn't. I did have a reason. This is the second time he's had a part in my kidnapping. I hated them all. Vixen more than anything. I was pissed at myself for breaking in front of him and letting him pick up the pieces. Again.

Never again.

I didn't need him and I sure as hell didn't wan't him to think I did. I had to pull myself together because from here on out I was on my own. I didn't have anyone. At least not anyone I could say anything to. There was no way I could involve Gwen, Leo or Sebastian. I would never forgive myself if I was the reason something happened to them.

I feel someone nudge my leg and snap back to reality. I look around, a confused expression on my face.

"Your order?"

I looked at a shy teenage girl with an apron and notepad looking at me expectantly. I recognized her. She went to our school. I'd seen her sitting by herself in the lunchroom a few times. She was always alone. I glance at her name tag and smile up at her. Aurora.

"I'm good, thank you." I say. She nods and turns on her heel.

"She'll take a bacon cheeseburger with tomato and lettuce, some fries and a chocolate milkshake, extra whipped cream." Vixen interjects, his eyes trained on me. It was what I got every time I came here but how did he know that. Had he been watching me?

Sue's was the schools hangout spot. It was only three blocks from school which was also fairly convenient but really it was just because they had some of the best food in town. Their burgers and fries were perfectly seasoned and made from heaven and their milkshakes practically melted in your mouth. They also had a bar that Sue gave full access to. If you want to get drunk without having to use some fake ID come to Sue's. Everyone has been coming here for years and nothing has changed. Sue was also the sweetest person I knew in the world. She'd helped out a lot when my parents died. She and my mom had been best friends since high school. The accident hit her just as hard as me.

Aurora hurried to scramble the order down on her notepad, her hands trembling. I gave Vixen a death glare and turned to look at her. "Don't worry about it. I'm fine."

She looked almost scared as she looked between the both of us. For a second I wondered what had her so nervous but then I really looked around. I was sitting at the table with three of the most popular boys in school. I completely understood but what I wasn't sure about is if she was genuinely scared of them or just nervous because she wanted them. Probably both.

A muscle in his jaw began to tick as he turned his attention to Aurora, glaring at her. Her whole  face flushed red as she scurried away like her pants were on fire. All it took was a look and he had people falling at his feet. I was so tired of it but I understood the feeling. I was still scared of him but that was more because i'd seen firsthand what he was capable of and I couldn't help but have a feeling that he's done way worse. The thought caused an empty pit to open in my stomach. If i'd had breakfast it would've been all over the table by now.
