a hand grips isa's arm, jolting her awake from her slumber only to find luke standing in front of her, the rest of the bau watching the interaction from behind him. isa barely remembered falling asleep, when they got back on the jet, she took her usual seat, listened to music and then it just happened. "isa, are you okay?" luke's brows treaded close to one another as he removed his hand from her arm, she didn't say anything, opting for a nod instead. she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, trying to get used to the dim light that hung above her head.

luke was never one to be satisfied with vague answers, even if all it was a nod. he tilted his head slightly as he lowered himself to meet her eyes, watching her intently before speaking once again in that gravelly voice of his. "are you sure? you were out cold."

"you don't have to worry about me," she grabbed ahold of her sore shoulder, starting to massage the muscle that she tore during their last case which involved her having to tackle a man double her size.

"someone has to," luke retorted instantly. his eyes flicked towards her arm as she began to rub her shoulder, his jaw clenching as he realized just how bad that tackle had really been. it was a stupid move on her behalf, and they both knew it, her injury now a reminder of that fact.

isa let out a low chuckle as she pulled off her jacket, placing it on the empty seat beside her when a silver chain revealed itself under her shirt, "well, thank you i guess." it was weird to be normal with him, it almost felt like they were being nice to one another, freaky.

a frown formed on his face as he caught a glimpse of the chain, and against his better judgement, he decided to speak on it, his voice was still stern but softer than usual. "what's that?" he asked, nodding to the chain around her neck.

she looked up at him as she started tugging at the chain, revealing a dog tag, "it's my brother's." she paused, an almost playful smile on her lips, "it was my brother's." she corrected her previous statement.

a brief flicker of curiosity flashed in his eyes as she pulled on the chain, and he leaned in just slightly to get a better look at the dog tag as she continued speaking, his expression unchanged. when she corrected herself, he raised a brow, his head tilting to the side. "was?" he echoed, a note of inquisition in his voice.

"he passed away on some top-secret bureau mission." she gently pulled the chain back, letting it slip into her shirt as she looked up at him, "this is all the gave us, they still haven't found his body." she looked away now, grabbing her bag as she started taking out a bag of gummy bears.

his eyes darkened as he took in the information, anger beginning to bubble in his chest at the thought of a family having no answers in the death of a sibling. he clenched his jaw as he took a moment to collect himself before speaking. "how long ago?" he asked softly, his eyes fixated on her face.

"in a week it'll be three months." she took out one single gummy bear, popping it into her mouth. it was clear the subject still hit her hard, even after all this time. he was about to say something when he noticed her taking out a singular gummy bear, he furrowed his brows in irritation. "is that all you're eating?" he chided, his voice still holding a hint of softness.
