Rin tied her hair in a ponytail, setting down the lunchboxes she was going to bring on the table. She had about an hour left before school, but she decided to set off around that time. Once done, she bid her goodbye to her mother, and then walked out.

The journey to Nekoma wasn't long nor short, but she was glad that she made it in time. When she slid the doors to her class and made her way to the table, she was surprised when someone playfully swung her hair left and right. Turning around, Rin saw that it was Kuroo Tetsuro, her very annoying close friend.

"It's too early to piss me off, Tetsu." She said with a smile, because she knew that Kuroo's next move would be to playfully pull on her hair tie. "Don't you dare pull it off."

"Why not? I really love your hair when you have it down." Kuroo sat on the seat beside hers, his permanent seat.

"It was hot earlier so I tied it up," Rin muttered, settling down her seat.

Just a few seconds later, their teacher already entered the room. The students greeted her and they started with their agenda for that day right away. From a couple of rows to their back, Yaku could only sigh and shake his head. Kuroo was too obvious and it seemed as though Rin had zero clue about her dear friend's feelings. He almost felt bad for Kuroo, but at the same time, he knew that the male captain could do well on his own.

Instead of listening, Rin found herself dozing off. A small chuckle sounded beside her, waking her up and earning the attention of everyone in the room.

"Is anything funny about the lesson, Kuroo?" The teacher asked, her eyes narrowing as she looked at the student with a bedhead.

"Nothing, ma'am." He replied immediately, holding back his laughter.

"And Kimura, it would do you good if you avoided sleeping in my class. You have decent grades but you need to listen to the lecture still."

Rin simply apologized and the teacher let it go. After her apology, the teacher quickly went back to their lesson for the day. Rin then gazed at Kuroo, who was already looking at her with a mischievous smirk across his lips. As much as she wanted to wipe it off of his lips, she just let him do whatever he wanted.

Instead of going back to sleep, Rin took our her notes and started scribbling. She wasn't entirely focused on the lesson, but was drawing her seatmate at the back of her notebook.

"That looks like me." Kuroo whispered, leaning closer to Rin who flinched at the sudden voice near her ear.

"It is you. It's not finished because I haven't drawn your horns yet, you evil fox." She joked, masking her laughter. Kuroo gave her a fake glare, snatching her notebook from her and drawing his version of Rin.

The only thing on the page was Rin's drawing of Kuroo, a pair of horns protruding from his messy hair. He smiled, drawing Rin next to him. Once done, he added a halo on top of her head and a small pair of angel wings.

"I may be evil, but you are an angel." He joked, but that much was enough to place a tint of pink on Rin's cheeks. Kuroo, who noticed it, thought that she was reddening from anger.

"Why did you draw me so much shorter than you?"

"Because you are short?"

"Kuroo! Kimura! Out my class, now!"

After an eventful morning during classes, one of which they were kicked out from, it was finally time for them to have lunch. They sat down at a table in the cafeteria, the people consisting of Kuroo, Rin, Yaku, and Kai. Rin didn't know when she started getting close to Kai as well, but she was glad that he was always around. Unlike the scheming and usually mischievous Kuroo, Kai was the calmest within the group. As for Yaku, he was both a menace and a pillar for them.

"What do you have for lunch?" Yaku asked, opening his bento, given that he was already starving from all those lessons they had to catch up on.

Kai answered him, while Rin was busy taking out the food she prepared. She suddenly felt shy, feeling like she went overboard by cooking whatever's in her box. She couldn't quite admit it that she actually woke up early to prepare what Kuroo's favorite food was. When she asked for his favorite food, she thought that it wasn't that suspicious given that he asked hers as well. But right now, she felt nervous. Kuroo loved her cooking, it was obvious, but to make it known that she prepared that very same dish for the sole reason of pleasing Kuroo... she didn't want that.

Once she took the lid off, Kuroo's eyes sparkled.

"What? You're having grilled salted mackerel pike?" Kuroo asked, a grin plastered across his face. He looked so delighted that Rin could only let out a laugh. Yaku and Kai were snickering at Kuroo's reaction— he was like a kid opening his present for Christmas.

"Well... you did say that you like it. Thought I'd cook it for you at least once," She replied with a shy smile.

"I think I'm in love with you," Kuroo said with a teasing tone, as if he was simply messing with Rin. However, he really appreciated the gesture and he felt his heart melt.

He almost forgot what he did that very same morning, too.

In fact, in the same way, he cooked curry for Rin. That was the exact reason as to why he asked for her favorite food— to prepare it for her and so that they could share it during lunch.

"And you made curry? That's sweet of you, Tetsu," Rin grinned, playfully patting his hair in which he dodged.

"I came here to eat my lunch, not to watch you two be sappy best friends," Yaku complained, and Kai only chuckled at the background.

"It's nice to see them getting along. I feel like it was just yesterday when we met Rin," Kai added, "I think you'll both be a good husband and wife."

As the two were talking, Rin and Kuroo decided to share what they cooked for each other. When Yaku was going to pick up a small piece of the meat on Kuroo's curry, the captain slapped his chopsticks using his own.

"Hey, that's for Rin," Kuroo said, chuckling.

"I just wanted to try your cooking." Yaku said, shrugging his shoulders.

"Well, you can have some. Don't mind Tetsu, he's just being mean," a chuckle escaped Rin's lips, and Kuroo pouted.

"You always side with Yaku," Kuroo joked, "Kai, will you side with me?"

"I'm afraid not, I wanna try it as well," Kai's chuckles made Kuroo shrug.

"It's so good, Tetsu! Your future girlfriend would be lucky to have you," Rin enthusiastically complimented Kuroo's chooking.

Kai and Yaku choked on their food, stifling their laughter as they looked mischievously at Kuroo who was simply sporting one of his polite smiles. The same one he uses when he provokes his opponents on court.

"I'm serious! It's good."

"Glad you think so."

"How's the mackerel?"

"Very tasty. Thank you."

Lunch flew by quickly, and before they knew it, it was time for class already. Kuroo told Rin to go ahead without them, as they had something to talk about regarding volleyball. That, however, was a lie— Kuroo stopped to talk to Yaku.

"She liked what I cooked for her," Kuroo started, once Rin was out of sight. "And she cooked for me, too. Help me, Yaku."

Yaku simply laughed, shaking his head. "And you say you're not lovers? I can't believe people do that for each other and slap a label of 'close friends' on whatever you guys have going on."

"You're making it hurt more," Kuroo sighed.

"It will hurt less if you had the guts to confess."

"I'm not having this conversation right now, Yaku."

"Well, you better move faster. You'll never know if someone out there will take her away from you."
