The fight was over, they were treated but I had a feeling that this was the Calm before the storm no matter how chaotic it was. the leader wasn't there, I had met the leader in person and I know he wasn't there. if he wasn't there that means that this wasn't going to be the only attack, and I had a feeling they had a lot more than what they showed us. a lot of the Wolves were in the infirmary, among them was myself. I should probably train more when it comes to wolf form combat, that's what got me injured and now I have a sprained ankle and I'm limping around like an I know what a heel quickly thanks to my vampire side and werewolf side but I still felt useless. I was limping around helping the nurses in the palace and firmary. Ryan was following after me telling me how much I shouldn't be walking. he was pissing me off to be honest.

" you have a sprained ankle, and you need stitches" he said pointing to the two cuts one on my thigh that ran down from the middle of it to about my knee, cutting into my jeans. and the one that was splattered on my cheek. it's not like I'm going to scar but it would help not getting an infection. but he needed to piss off.

Ryan's concern was touching, but it grated on my nerves. I knew he meant well, but I couldn't shake the feeling of frustration that simmered beneath the surface. I didn't need someone to coddle me—I needed to be out there, fighting alongside my pack.

"I'll be fine," I muttered, brushing off his attempts to fuss over me. "There are others who need your attention more than I do."

Ryan sighed, his expression softening with concern. "Cairo, you've been through a lot. You need to take care of yourself."

I rolled my eyes, fighting back the urge to snap at him. "I am taking care of myself," I insisted, though the truth was far from it. I was exhausted, both physically and mentally, but I couldn't afford to show weakness, not now.

Ryan gave me a skeptical look, but thankfully, he didn't press the issue further. Instead, he turned his attention to the nurses, instructing them to tend to my injuries while he went to check on the other wounded.

As the nurses went to work, stitching up my wounds and wrapping my ankle, I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration and helplessness wash over me. I wanted to be out there, fighting alongside my pack, but instead, I was stuck here, confined to the infirmary like a wounded animal.

But even as I chafed against my limitations, I knew that I had to be patient. The battle wasn't over yet, and I needed to be at full strength when the time came to face our enemies once again.

With a sigh, I settled back onto the cot, resigning myself to the tedious task of recovery. Then I caught a scent, a scent that almost made my Toes curl, that sent flutters throughout my stomach and caused my heartbeat to pick up. it smelled of citrus and pine needles with a mix of mint. I've never smelled that scent before, it was like it was calling out to me urging me to follow it. I pushed the thought aside and continued to listen to Ryan lecture me about how I shouldn't have tried to take on Three Wolves at once. In my defense Ryan had six on him, I only took half, I'm his beta I wasn't going to let my Alpha take on six by himself

Despite Ryan's lecture, my mind couldn't shake off the intoxicating scent that lingered in the air. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced before, pulling at something deep within me, stirring up a mix of curiosity and anticipation.

As Ryan continued to speak, his words washing over me in a blur, I found myself unable to concentrate. The scent beckoned to me, urging me to follow its trail, to uncover its source.

"Are you even listening to me?" Ryan's voice broke through my thoughts, his tone laced with frustration.

I snapped back to attention, blinking as I refocused on him. "Sorry, I... got distracted," I mumbled, my mind still lingering on the mysterious scent.
