When they left the house, they drove around town in the Impala, not seeing anything strange about the townspeople. When they came across an alleyway, Lily spotted something.
"Dean, stop the car." She said immediately. When he stopped it, she got out of the car and went into the alleyway, fog creeping across the pavement and garbage strewn about. A dumpster was tipped over, spilling rotten trash all around it, and she tried not to gag as she came up to the back wall of a building at the end of the alleyway.
"What is it?" Sam asked as him and Dean came up behind her. She felt herself tense up as she saw big letters written in blood across the bricks.
CROATOAN
"Oh..crap." Dean said in a soft voice. Lily slowly reached out, touching one of the letters. The tips of her fingers came away red.
"It's fresh." She said, her fangs shooting out of her gums. "They're here, I know it."
Taking out their weapons, they looked around, taking in every corner and piece of trash all around them, looking for any movement. Not seeing anything so far, and they stationed themselves at a nearby corner, not staying too far away from each other.
A loud snarl was heard, and Dean whirled around, shooting the Croat in the head, dropping them to the ground instantly. They immediately formed a circle in the middle, seeing more Croats, at least a dozen of them.
"This is it." Dean said.
"Either kill or be killed." Lily said. "No turning back now."
The Croats surrounded them, eyeing them hungrily. Dean glanced at Sam.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Let's get this over with." Sam said, and slashed out with his knife at a chunk of Croats. It wasn't strong enough of a hit, but it backed them up, and all hell broke loose.
Dean fired his gun as much as he could, stabbing at them with an angel blade he's had for a while. Kicking one in the gut, He shot them in the head, blood splattering on his face. Lily used her speed to confuse her opponents, snapping and biting their necks when she had the chance. She was suddenly grabbed from behind, and she was slammed to the ground, the wind knocked out of her, but it didn't slow her down. Kneeing them in the gut, she flipped them over, biting their neck until they were dry. Standing back up, she spit some of it out, and continued fighting.
Sam, on the other hand, wasn't doing very well. He missed half of his attacks, constantly being slammed either against the wall or on the ground. He stabbed one of his opponents, shoving them to the side as they fell to the ground. He nearly got bit a few times, but he dodged at the last second. Whirling behind him, he was punched square in the jaw, and he fell to the ground again. The Croat was strong, Sam trying to hold them off, but their weight gave them an advantage.
Dean and Lily fought side by side, shooting and snapping necks.
"Out of all places, it had to be in a city." Dean said, punching another victim and stabbing them.
"Sometimes they do that." Lily said, kicking one in the gut. Taking out a gun, she fired, the bullet hitting them square in the head. Dean glanced at her, and his eyes widened.
"When the hell did you grab the Colt??" He asked, shooting another Croat.
"Before we left." She said, firing another bullet. "Gotta have something other than my hands." She snapped another victim's neck. "Less talking, more fighting."
They suddenly heard a scream of pain, and Dean knew that scream anywhere.
"SAM!!" He shouted, looking at his brother as he was bitten on the neck. "SAMMY!!"
He was suddenly shoved to the ground, his gun flying out of his hand. Trying to hold them off, he tried reaching for the blade, but the Croat suddenly started choking him. Lily was shooting the Croats around them, biting yet another neck, sucking them dry. Dean struggled with this one, his mind focused on his brother. Kneeing them in the gut, they didn't budge.
"Lily, a little help?!" He gagged, seeing black spots in his vision. Whirling to him, she shot another bullet, hitting them in the side. Screaming in pain, they let go of him and stood up, glaring at her. They flicked their hand, and the Colt flew out of her hands, and they flicked their hand again, and she flew head first into the brick wall of a building, not moving once she hit the ground. Dean stood up, running over to Sam, who was also on the ground.
"Sam?? Sammy!" He said desperately, shaking his shoulder. "Come on, don't do this again, wake up!"
Nothing, and the Croat behind him laughed.
"He's dead, Dean Winchester." They said. "He's Turning as we speak."
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Dean shouted, taking out his only weapon he had left, holding out the angel blade. "He's not dead!"
"I'm afraid so." They said. "You see, that's what you can't accept: whenever your little brother dies, you always say no. Well guess what: this time is different." Walking up to him, he pointed the tip at his chest, his heart pounding. "It's time to accept that you're brother is dead, and you can't change it."
Dean glared at them. "Shut...the hell..UP!" And he slashed at his chest, the cut deep. Yelling in pain, they gave him a mad look.
"Three against one...this won't end well for you."He saw movement, and noticed Lily waking up, but she gave him a serious look.
Be quiet about this if you wanna live. He heard her say in his mind. He silently agreed, and charged at the Croats, punching and stabbing one in the gut, dropping them to the ground. The other attacked him from behind, and he felt their teeth graze his neck, making him tense up as he flung them off. Running for his gun, he snagged it off the ground, and shot another bullet. He glanced to see Lily reaching for the gun, but it was enough of a distraction for him to be flung against the wall by the last Croat.
"Hey, asshole." Lily said, loading up the Colt, the barrel pointing at their head. The stopped what they were about to do, and turned their head to face her.
"You think you can kill me with that?" They asked with an evil smirk. "I am..the creator."
Lily froze, her hand with the gun slightly shaking. The creator turned their attention back to Dean.
Only to have her fire another bullet, hitting them in the side of the head. Screaming in pain, they let go of Dean. Flashes of light flickered in the wound, causing them to jerk in pain as they dropped to the ground.Looking up at them, they smiled.
"You can't save your brother. He's..dead."
They dropped to the ground, and became stone still. They breathed a sigh of relief, but it didn't last long. Dean ran back over by Sam, who hasn't moved at all.
"Sam, come on, wake up!" He said, checking his pulse. It was dead still underneath his fingertips.
"Dean, move." Lily said, kneeling next to him.
"What're you doing?" Dean asked when she lifted Sam's head.
"Just trust me, okay?" She said.
Before he could reply, she bit his neck.
