Taehyung shuffled back to the lounge with the conversation he had with the boss skipping around his head in vexing circles.Jungkook thought so little of him — he underestimated him and his skills while he barely knew him. That alone fueled his urge to prove him wrong and transcend every other host and hostess.
Taehyung was too outstanding to be at the bottom, anyway, and he knew it.
“Tae. What happened?”
The said man stuttered to a stop at the subdued voice of his best friend, only then realizing he had reached his destination. “I’ll tell you later.”
“Let’s go to the bar,” Kanjin cut in with his naturally smooth, deep-toned voice. “The doors will open soon.”
The four trudged towards the bar, surrounded by an awkward hush. Taehyung and Jimin stayed glued to each other throughout the short haul, and they similarly grimaced when Kanjin immobilized Taehyung with a gentle hand on his forearm.
“We can’t sit all together. All hosts are supposed to sit alone. I only sit with you because it’s the boss’ orders.”
“Oh.” Taehyung’s lips pressed together in disappointment, though Jimin’s comforting smile eased a dram of the vile emotion.
“It’s okay, Tae. We’ll chat during our break.”
“Can’t you just stay for a few hours away from each other? Jeez,” Honsu commented in an annoyed sort of taunt. “You, whatever your name is, follow me.”
“It’s Jimin,” he gritted out and reluctantly trailed behind the obnoxious man with hands balled into fists.
A tsk sound flew out of Taehyung as he took his seat at the bar. “Why is Honsu such a jerk?”
Kanjin followed his lead and perched next to him on the tall stool. “Unfortunately, that’s just how he is. He’s been like that since day one. I still don’t understand why and how he has friends in here.”
“So I’m guessing you’re not his friend.”
“Pff, I’d never be even in a million years. Everything about him is annoying.”
His aversion about that unfortunately captivating man tugged at Taehyung’s lips. He espied a cluster of people started flooding the bar, clad in high-end suits and dresses, looking all glamorous. “Are there more rules I should know before I start working?”
“Didn’t the boss tell you?”
“He said we can only accept five requests for the pleasure rooms in total, but only two for sex.”
“That’s the most important. Also, we have to follow the boss’ orders and not steal a customer from another host. Other than that, we have to be respectful towards the customers, never raise our voice even if they do, and stuff like that.”
Taehyung’s face crumpled into a frown. “Steal a customer?”
“Yeah, like, if the customer has already chosen a host, you shouldn’t go talk to them.”
“And how do they choose a host?”
“They get a “menu” with the hosts they can choose from.”
“Oh, and our rankings...” Taehyung trailed off, hoping Kanjin would eradicate the horrid suspicion that swarmed up his chest.
But Kanjin presented a tight-lipped, sympathetic smile to him. “They're included.”
“Well, fuck,” he breathed out, feeling his imminent doom bear down on him. “What do we do now?”
“Nothing. You have to wait for a customer to call you.”
