Taehyung stretched his curled-up limps and winced at the soreness encircling his body. He rolled over, but his back collided against something plush, and his eyes split open to inspect. Shit, I fell asleep again. On Jungkook’s couch...He pushed himself to a sitting position, and his attention rushed to the blanket that slid down his form. Did I take a blanket with me? He mulled over it and soon concluded he didn’t. How did this get here, then?
Too sleepy to think of an explanation, he shuffled to the guest room to use the bathroom. After he freshened up, and with his senses now completely clear, he returned to the living room and stood there awkwardly. Jungkook wouldn’t have taken off again, right? Not without leaving him a note, at least, and he didn’t spot anything.
A few moments of consideration later, Taehyung pattered across the living room and into the hallway where Jungkook’s room was, probably. He found a closed door and leaned closer, placing his ear against it. The softest of snores rang from the other side of the room rhythmically, and Taehyung broke into a mild smile.
He must be tired. Who knows what time he came back... With this thought, Taehyung opted to leave. It would be weird to wait for him to wake up. It wasn’t like they had something going on; they were just boss and employee, who happened to have sex. Staying in his house for hours, possibly, with Jungkook sleeping, felt too awkward for him.
Taehyung went home, took a shower, and sent a text to Jungkook, informing him he had left. He didn’t receive an answer even after he ate the takeout food he ordered, though he didn’t think much about it.
He talked on the phone with Jimin, as it was his day off and they wouldn’t see each other. He also arranged to meet with Kanjin before work to chat freely, since the latter seemed like he needed it. And just two hours before they had to go to work, Taehyung’s phone vibrated with a new message.
Boss: Good, because I just woke up. Come to my office once you get here.
Sitting at a cafe near the Royal Ace Lounge, Kanjin stared at the fond, seemingly unconscious smile that overflowed Taehyung’s face. “Who’s making you smile like that?”
Kanjin’s voice destroyed the trance-like bubble that briefly enclosed Taehyung’s senses, and the smile dropped off his face at once as he locked his phone. “No one.”
“Yeah, right.”
Taehyung snorted at the irony he perceived in his tone, and they carried on with their conversation.
. . .
The two friends strolled along the sidewalk, heading towards the Royal Ace Lounge. They made sure to arrive thirty minutes earlier than their shift, so they could have time to get ready.
They soon entered the changing room, and Taehyung wore his black suit, then sneaked out of the room. He walked to Jungkook’s office with a brisk gait, eager to know why he told him to go see him.
Taehyung slid the door open once he received permission and bowed his head in a greeting to the boss, who was sitting on the couch. He couldn’t decipher the look on his face as he approached him. He seemed fairly... normal. Carefree, even, with no hint of apathy, as usual.
Taehyung sank down onto the other couch close to him. “You asked to see me?”
“Yes. I owe you an explanation about yesterday.”
