No one sees the world like me
Through my lens
From my unique experience
Only me
I’m the only one that can see like me
My camera sits on the counter
My journal on my lap
I pick up my pen
I want to show you what i seeI see the memories
Of when i was younger
Playing with my friends
Just being ourselves
I wish we could do that again
But as we got older
Expectations were set
On our age
Saying that we had to behave
As they forced us to changeSilencing us saying that we were wrong
And when we went against those expectations
They told us that or behavior was unacceptable
Saying they were disappointed in us
Trying to guilt us
Into never doing it again
Making us feel bad for speaking out
Saying something that they told us
We weren't allowedAs they tried to silence us
Trying to take or voices away
To make us go along with whatever they say
As they forced us to change
Some of us gave away
And they changedAnd I wonder, are they proud of themselves?
For taking parts of us away
Are they satisfied now that we have changed
