As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, a palpable sense of relief washed over the classroom. The earlier confrontation had left a lingering tension in the air as students quickly gathered their belongings, the usual chatter subdued. Everyone seemed eager to leave it behind.
Everyone except you, Izuku, and Katsuki, that is.
You ignored the glares that Katsuki would send your way once in a while, his anger still simmering beneath the surface. Izuku, on the other hand, was nervously fidgeting with his notebook, his eyes darting between you and Katsuki in class.
Most of your classmates had already left by the time you took your sweet time packing your stuff. Normally, you'd be the first to rush home to play video games, but the reminder that the devil of that wizard had confiscated everything that required you to kill time, made you move in a slumped manner.
What to do. It's so boring at home.
Your eyes skim over to Izuku who's still in the classroom, jotting things down on his notebook. Like a nerd, you thought. But you don't mean to call him that as an insult like Katsuki does.
Izuku looked up, catching your gaze. He smiled nervously, clearly unsure of what to say. You smile back in reassurance as you wave him a goodbye, turning to exit out the door.
Katsuki and his friends had been hanging around the doorway, waiting for everyone to leave. As you walked past the door, his friends stopped talking.
His intense gaze locked onto yours, his eyes burning with a mixture of anger and something else you couldn't quite place. You felt your heart pound in your chest, a strange mix of emotions swirling within you. You stopped in your tracks, the silence stretching out uncomfortably between you. It felt like the hallway had shrunk, leaving just the two of you in this charged moment.
It had been your intention to not say anything, but you couldn't help but tilt your head to the side. Finally, unable to take the silence any longer, you spoke.
"Uh, is there something on my face?"
One of his friends snickered, "Yeah, Katsuki, why are you looking at her like that," they said teasingly.
Katsuki went unexpectedly stiff, his usual bravado faltering for a split second. His eyes flickered with surprise and a flash of embarrassment before his usual scowl returned.
"Shut up, you idiots!" He snapped at his friends, who quickly fell silent. He clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as he glared at them before turning his gaze back to you.
For once this time, he looked like he was out a spout of rude nonsense. Therefore, the awkward silence sinks back in. You, on the other hand, doesn't really have anything to say.
