Let's just say you missed a shit ton of things when you were gone, not even realizing it. Thankfully, your classmates kindly briefed you on everything that went down in the first set of the Sports Festival.

Right after Shoto absolutely violated Sero, it was Kirishima's turn. Just like you, he'd also been matched up with a Class 1-B student. Ironically, their Quirks were basically copy-pasted. Hardening versus Steel? If you didn't know any better, you'd assume they were long-lost brothers. Their fight ended in a tie, the most bro-coded outcome imaginable.

Then came Iida's match against Hatsume—a support course girl from Izuku's cavalry team. And apparently, support items are allowed...? Anyway, she didn't even try to win. She used the entire match to turn Iida into her personal infomercial mannequin, giving a TED talk about her gear while he suffered through it. Yet somehow, he still pulled the victory. Justice for Iida, kind of.

You actually found that kind of funny, even though you shouldn't when Riri's also been deliberately messing with you this whole time. Your circumstances compared to the boy with the engine Quirk aren't so different in that regard.

Then Mina advanced, dancing across the arena like she was born in a music video.

Unfortunately, Momo didn't make the cut—which sucks. Good for Tokoyami, though. Dark Shadow was thriving.

You sat next to Izuku, who had his notebook already open like the nerd he was. Beside him, Iida leaned forward, adjusting his glasses. "Midoriya, you said earlier you thought of a counter-strategy for her against Bakugou. What was it?"

Izuku meekly scratched his cheek. "Oh, it's nothing, really. Kacchan basically doesn't have a weakness.. but if she can get him to float, she'll gain the advantage."

"Well, did Uraraka end up hearing you out, Izuku?"

He shook his head. "Maybe she's got a plan of her own."

Only one way to see that through, you thought. You genuinely wonder how this will play out. Given Katsuki's strength, you wouldn't want to underestimate Uraraka either when you haven't seen her power at its potential. At the very least, this is a match you wouldn't ever want to miss, considering this is also how you'll know who you're going up against next.

All of a sudden, you're reminded of your last conversation with the blond.

Before you could dwell on your thoughts any further, Present Mic's stentorian voice blasted through the speakers.

"AAALRIGHT! For the last match-up of the first round! He was kind of famous in middle school—with a face only a mother could love... It's Katsuki Bakugou from the Hero Course!! VERSUS!—she's the one I'm rooting for—also from the Hero Course, Ochako Uraraka!!"
