Abandon All Hope

"Station's empty." Dean told Ellen as the car rolled to a stop next to us.

"So is everything else." Jo replied.

"Have you seen Cas?" Ellen asked.

"What? He was with you." Sam pointed out.

"Nope, he went after the reapers."

"Reapers?" Dean asked.

"I knew I felt reapers around here." I sighed.

"He saw reapers? Where?" Sam asked.

"Well...kind of everywhere." Jo answered.

_____

"Great, we've been in town twenty minutes and we've already lost the angel up our sleeve." Dean stated as we walked down the street.

"That's just our luck, buddy." I replied.

"You think, uh, Lucifer got him?" Sam asked.

"I don't know what else to think." Dean answered.

I nudged Millie's side, leaning in close as the brothers walked in front of us. "So?"

"So what?" Millie asked, voice just as low as mine.

"So did you and Sam spend your last night on earth together?" I asked, smiling a little.

Mille gave me a look. A 'shut up before I rip your throat out' look. Normally, I'm the one giving her a look.

"So yes?"

"It was a one night thing so don't start your bullshit." Millie told me.

"You will hear no bull from me." I lied. I'd totally pester her about it later.

"There you are." A voice from behind us made everyone turn around. Meg--now in a different, dark haired vessel--stood there.

"Meg." Sam greeted.

"You shouldn't have come here, boys."

"I could say the same thing for you." Dean stepped forward, raising the Colt.

"Didn't come here alone, Dean-o." Meg told him.

My eyes flickered to her side where a Hellhound stood, growling and snarling. There were a couple more around her, waiting for the word to rip us to shreds.

"Hellhounds." Dean stated.

"Yeah, Dean, your favorite." Meg said. "Come on, my father wants to see you."

"I think we'll pass, thanks." Sam replied.

"Your call. You can make this easy or you can make it really, really hard."

Dean glanced back at us for a moment. "When have you ever known us to ever make anything easy?" He shot at one of the hellhounds. "Run!"

We all turned, sprinting down the street in hopes of outrunning the creatures.

Glancing over my shoulder, I spotted Dean just as a hellhound jumped, bringing him to the pavement. Knife gripped in hand, I went to run toward him.

Sam grabbed my arm. "You can't close enough to kill it without killing yourself."

"Let me go." I pulled against his grip.

Jo--on the other hand--shot at the hellhound.

"Stay back!" Dean yelled.

Jo shot again, moving closer.

"Jo, move!" I yelled as a hellhound stalked toward her. But it was too late. The hellhound knocked her to the ground, claws tearing down her side, blood splatter against her neck and soaking her clothes. She screamed.

Dean hurried to his feet, lifting her into his arms as we all ran for the nearest store. Sam and I slammed the doors shut behind everyone, chaining them shut. Dean found bags of road salt used for when it snows and poured it by the door.

"I need some help here!" Ellen called out.

I quickly made my way over, kneeling beside Jo. Blood was pouring, pooling on the floor and soaking through everything. There was no way in hell I could fix this here. She needed a hospital and even then her survival wasn't guaranteed.

_____

I patched her up as best I could but the bandages and gauze were soaking through quickly, staining red in seconds.

"You're gonna be alright. You're gonna be alright." Ellen whispered to her daughter though I'm pretty sure it was more to comfort herself.

"I'll be right back." I said. "Just keep some pressure on it."

I stood, moving toward Sam and Dean who stood by a shelf. Dean was putting batteries into a radio in hope of getting it to work.

"How's she holding up?" He asked as I drew near.

"It's...not good." I whispered, clenching my bloodied hands.

"The salt lines are holding up." Sam stated.

"Safe for now." Dean nodded.

"Yeah, safe or trapped like rats." Sam corrected.

"Hey, you heard Meg. Her father's here." Dean said. "This is our one shot, Sammy. We gotta take it no matter what."

The radio cut on, static crackling through.

"Saige, some help here, please." Ellen called out.

As Dean began to radio a message to Bobby, I moved to help Ellen and Jo.

I didn't know what to do. There was nothing I could do, really. I hated it.

____

"So now we know where the devil's gonna be, when and we have the Colt." Dean stated as we stood a few feet away from Jo and Ellen. Apparently Bobby figured out that Lucifer is raising Death at midnight on an old battle grounds in town.

"Yeah, we just have to get past eight or so hellhounds and get to the farm by midnight." Sam replied.

"Yeah, and that's after we get Jo and Ellen the hell out of town."

"Dean, as much as I want to get them out of here and to a hospital...I'm not sure Jo will make the move." I said.

"Stretcher?"

"Maybe, but still we have to be careful. She's lost too much blood as is. One wrong move and she'll..." I trailed off.

"I'll see what we got." Sam nodded his head.

"Stop." Jo called out. "Guys, stop. Can we be realistic about this, please? I can't move my legs. I can't be moved. My guts are being held in by an Ace bandage. We gotta--We gotta get our priorities straight here." She was quiet for a moment. "Number one, I'm not going anywhere."

"Joanna Beth, you stop talking like that." Ellen warned.

"Mom. I can't fight. I can't walk. But I can do something. We've got propane, wiring, rock salt, iron nails, everything we need." Jo stated.

"Everything we need?" Sam asked.

"To build a bomb, Sam."

"You can't do that." I said.

"She's right. No." Dean added.

"You got another plan?" Jo asked. "You got any other plan? Those are hellhounds out there, Dean. They've got all of our scents. Those bitches will never stop coming after you. We let the dogs in, you guys hit the roof and make a break for the  building next over. I can wait here with my finger on the button. Rip those mutts a new one." She smiled. "Or at least get you a few minutes head start anyway."
