Author's Pov
It's 12:00 am and Hayat is sitting on her bed using her phone. Suddenly, a notification pops up. She opens it, and various emotions appear on her face. Within a minute, she calls her best friend, Sona.
"Hello, Sona! You know what? I've been selected for the scholarship! I just checked and had to call you," Hayat says excitedly.
"Really, Hayat? But I didn't get any message. I think only you were selected, not me," Sona replies sadly.
"Don't be sad, Sona. You'll get the approval message too. Just wait a little longer," Hayat consoles her.
"Hope so. Anyway, tell me, how are your preparations for your cousin's wedding going?" asks Sona.
"Yeah, everything is done, but some small tasks remain. Okay, I'll talk to you later. Bye," Hayat says, and then ends the call.
Hayat's POV
As I end the call, I feel thirsty and notice the jug is empty. I wear my slippers and go to the kitchen to get some water. As I enter the kitchen, I see white roses on the kitchen slab. I'm wondering who brought them and put them there. Then, I notice a note as well.
I pick it up and read what's written on it. I am astonished:
"Welcome to UNIVERSITI MALAYA."
I hadn't told anyone about my selection except Sona. So how did these flowers and the note get here, and who found out about my selection?
Hayat takes the roses and the note with her back to her room.
