《Jake's pov》

I look down at my phone, with a gloomy expression as I walk around the campus of this prestigious university, "Hake".
(made this name up lol)

It was 3:15 pm and classes just ended so I was walking out of the building.

"Hey Jake!", I heard a voice yell from behind just as I was getting down the stairs, so I stop in my tracks as I see the guys coming up to me.

Jake-- {20 yo}
Kenny-- Jake's major {20 yo} closest friend there
George-- {20 yo}
Zach--- {21 yo}
Mark--- {21 yo}

Jake also hangs with a lot of other ppl in the university and girls too (not interested in them) as he was pretty popular. Though they're the ones who keep coming behind him, he never really wanted to be associated with most of them.

"What's up guys?", I ask as they reach me, rolling my eyes internally.

"We're all going on blind dates set up by each other with girls from a nearby university. Wanna join?", Mark asks.

"Nah, I'll pass", I say as I shrug and continue walking.

"Cmon man, you're never up for fun. Do you have a secret girlfriend already or something?", Zach asks laughing, as he raises an eyebrow.

I look at him and raise my eyebrow at him too.

"Not your concern", I say tilting my head and glancing at him.

These guys are all such pushovers. I got out of Drew's manipulative friendship just to end up with a bunch of people probably worse than him? Ugh.

Kenny is probably my only true friend here, I'm atleast glad to have him to talk to.

"Don't be like that Jake, we're your homies afterall", George says smacking me softly yet hard on my back which pushes me a little front.

I refuse to be the same weak minded person I was years ago, heck I'm 20 years old now!

I grab his collar and glare at him.

"Don't even try to play this game with me, I will ruin your life got it?", I say as I stare into his soul.

This terrifies everyone except Kenny as they slowly back away.

George gulps as he slowly takes my hand but I still have it firmly gripped on his collar.

"S-sorry man, we'll leave you alone", he stammers.

I close my eyes and let go of him.

"You better keep your word", I say harshly.

"Y-you got it", he says as they all walk away, shaking.

I know, I sound like a real thug. But I swear, I'm still the same person as in high school with people who are genuinely nice to me, I can tell when someone is fake. I've grown to recognize people who just want my downfall and get closer for the sake of something else and I refuse to be walked all over by such people and have their negative energy ruin my peace of mind and life.

"Jake, are you okay?", I hear Kenny ask.

"Uhuh, I'm dandy", I reply cheerful as I smile at him.

"Man, are you sure you don't have split personality?", he laughs.

"Only with manipulative, narcissistic jerks", I laugh too.

We then start walking together outside the university.

"So, you wanna do something?", he asks.

"Hmm sure, what though?", I ask as I start to think aswell.

"Ooh I've got it! Well not today, but tomorrow there's a party being hosted by a girl from a nearby university. Many students from different universities are going too. Wanna go?", he asks.
