As the days passed, Klaus Mikaelson's mind never lingered far from that night in the Mystic Falls woods — from her.
Having woken nude in the woods with mind going wild since the freshly formed bond, a sense of completion filled his soul; body, mind, and heart. It was always curious how none of his brothers could have dreamt of their soul-fated so clear as day earlier, an old feeling of emptiness long gone. No longer feeling that deep, harrowing incomplete existence that seems oddly more noticeable now. Deep down, he felt a sense of pride and smugness at being the first to meet their anima fatis, and not the noble brother.
Yet, here he was, far from said soul-fated, chasing wolves across country.
During their walks through the woods and mountain ranges, hunting for their wolves, Klaus felt that deep ache in his heart and soul telling him to return in the direction he could vaguely sense. It was a strange, yet phenomenal, feeling; terrifyingly, this deep sense of the anima fatis bond had near control over him, which both frustrated and worried him. Above all, he rather enjoyed having this bond, even though he has to share her with his brothers. It was a change he both expected and warily accepted.
In any other circumstance, Klaus would have rid himself of the cause, hating that something, or someone, had any hint of power over him. He would loath it, resent it, and try to kill it at it's core. Yet again, here he was — the infamous, dangerous Original Hybrid — yearning for that bond, achingly so from far away like some love-sick fool that he was currently.
Not once in his thousand years had he felt this deep sense of longing and yearning, possibly surpassing his desire for his hybrid side. A feat that had been cruelly taken from him, as the other one he had yet to gain til now. Even in this moment, his mind and heart obsessed over who was behind those glowing, vibrant violet orbs in the dead of night; which only made it ever so harder the further he is from her. In truth, he wanted nothing more than to go back to her, he couldn't. Not yet.
Not with that demon still out there hunting him, as many others, without his own army.
Upon the end of his first shifting, he had dreamt of her — full vision in all great details, as if a blindfold had been removed. From her beauty to visions of what ifs of their future together, his mind conjuring moments he wanted, including the intimates slipping through; her scent, her taste, her sounds, and her touch. His dreams brought him everywhere to the imagination; every night.
It was by far the hardest, most difficult decision to flee for her safety. Or so he wholly believed. He couldn't risk her life by simply being so near, it'd draw too much unwanted attention. Not only would he never forgive himself had something happened to her, his brothers would tear him limb from limb — he's already pissed them off life-times enough for the constant daggering.
His raven meant everything, and until he could fully commit and shower her with the attention she deserved, her safety came first.
Unfortunately, his family — him most of all — have made near endless enemies for a thousand years, something that now fully presses on his mind. He won't say that he regrets any of his past actions, but he worries how it would affect her views on them — on him. He knows who he is, more so what: he's a beast. No, the beast of myth.
A life he's known for so long; only feared, no real love - not with just anyone. Yet the moment he has the chance to have it — someone to love him for who he was; for all of his faults, bloodied past, and the endless death he's capable of? A soul meant to match his in every way possible, and accept all that made him the Original Hybrid, Klaus Mikaelson? He will not — could not — risk losing this chance, an opportunity so important and rare as not many are blessed having, despite his fears and paranoia of vulnerability. He's accepted this for centuries after om and off years of denial and resistance — he's had the time to come to terms.
