"Mm." Meredith groaned while sitting up, her body straining. Amelia had a firm grip on her upper arms as she shook slightly in her grasp.

"I know, I know," Amelia whispered as she groaned in pain. The treatment had neared its end, and Meredith had regained most of her motor functions, her speech and brain still fuzzy, but only needing minimal support with standing and moving.

"Tir.. tired." She rasped out while standing fully with an exasperated sigh.

Her body shook slightly, but the great fullness of being better brought them all happier despite her current struggle.

A bead of sweat dripped down her forehead, her teeth were clenched and her tendons were uncomfortably tight and cramped as she stood.

"Just three steps, and then you can sit in the chair." Amelia smiled while holding Meredith up by her forearms. Meredith's thumbs and fingers were curled awkwardly and her feet pointing inward as she dragged them slowly and exhaustedly.

"Ahh." She whimpered in pain as her body crawled towards the chair, longing to sit down and end the torture.

"You got it, almost there." Amelia continued to encourage, her despite witnessing the pain it brought her.

Since waking up, Meredith had come a long way. She's begun to remind her body how to move and walk, and slowly regaining the ability to speak. It is a process but something they are all forever grateful for considering how lost they had once felt.

Three weeks into her reformative care, she was finally crossing the wall and reaching big milestones.

"That's it, Meredith! Relax." She exclaimed as they reached the cushioned chair sitting in the corner. She helped Meredith sit slowly, and the sigh she let out proved her relief.

"I- I.." Meredith stuttered slightly. She looked down at her hands to see them spasming slightly from the tension she placed on herself.

It was such an ethereal and unreal experience for her. All those days she sat in the hospital bed, listening and in pain. Now she could finally express herself once again but there was new pain. All that hard work to become herself once again and all it's brought so far is more pain.

"I want... see the kids," Meredith spoke as clearly as her mouth would allow her to. She panted quietly, her body shaking awkwardly.

"I know, I know you do. You will see them later." Amelia smiled while stepping towards her again. "Ready?" Meredith nodded and bit into her lip. She gripped Amelia's smooth hands and had to muffle her agony as she was forced to stand once more. She huffed her way through a few steps, tears brimming her eyes.

The bed wasn't all that far, maybe eight feet, but her weak legs could only talk small, unbearable steps back to her bed.

"You got it, you're almost there." Amelia encouraged. Meredith groaned in pain, knowing she was rough and still expressing this much pain broke Amelia's heart. It made her eyes Tsing with the urge to cry but she sucked it up and instead helped Meredith back into a comfortable position on the bed, the process was only a little grueling.

"I don't... no more." Meredith's voice was so soft, that pain filled her throat as she tried to adjust herself but was only left holding her throbbing head.

Her body was pulsing and throbbing all over, her muscles and brain were so exhausted. All she wanted was to see the kids, to see Derek, and to go home.
