It was two days after Ian talked with the Shelby brothers

Ian was out and about walking around with his cain he didn't want to bring it, thought it made him look weak but Lorraine forced him too as she knew he was gonna need it anyway, as he walked he heard his name being called from behind him he turned and smiled seeing it was Thomas "hey Tom, need something?" He asked curiously
"Come with me, I have a job offer for you" he said and Ian raised an eyebrow in interest with a smirk as he walked next to him, "is it to help you with your business by chance?" Thomas smirked and spoke with a hint of playfulness "and if it was?", "I'm listening" he chuckled

"I'll tell you once we get somewhere private"
Ian nodded understanding the business itself was illegal so Thomas didn't want prying ears to hear

They were at the Garrison again in the snug, Tommy talking to him about the job offer

"I would like you to be a bookie, all you'll be doing is taking and writing bets" Ian looked at him curiously "I feel that's not all Thomas" he said sounding serious

"Well, as you know the business is illegal and we lead the Peaky Blinders so-"

"So there will be illegal business deals and some gang violence or just general violence, threats, ect get to the point Thomas"
Thomas gave a small smirke at him, he knew Ian did not have that great of patients with certain things and prolonging a topic was a big one

"If you're gonna be a bookie for me you might participate in the Peaky Blinders and since I trust you I'll most likely call on you to aim your gun again for me"

Ian thought about it for a moment, if he didn't take it he would just be working at his sister's flower store which yes he loves her to death but it wasn't thrilling to him, the best risk he would get is a small cut from a thorn she didn't cut, while working for Thomas would be more dangerous than that, he sees how everyone avoids the man in the streets how they get nervous as he walks past people give him respect like he's the king of Birmingham

<Several months later>

Ian was walking down the road whistling a song he couldn't remember the name of, ever since he joined the Peaky Blinders people avoided him as he walked now and since almost everyone knew how close he was to the boss they treated him similarly to Thomas because even though he was the more warm and less scary of the gang they feared the repercussions they might get for simply looking at him wrong

He stopped whistling when he flinched as he felt a sudden harsh tug on his coat he turned and saw it was Finn the youngest brother of the Shelby's he didn't have time to say anything before Finn started to speak quickly, "it's Arthur, he's hurt!" He said before running off Ian following as quick as he could with a limp close behind the child.

It didn't take long for the two to be at the Shelby residence Finn burst through the doors with Ian behind him "I GOT IAN!" he announced, Ian walked past Finn to get a good look at Arthur, Ian had been here a while now and none of them had looked this bad until today.
