Chapter 13 : Forbidden Desire

I twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open slowly. Tae was already wide awake, sitting on the bed. The moment he spotted me, a deep frown formed on his face, and he questioned, "Where did you disappear to?"

I casually replied, "I just went downstairs to grab a drink of water, no biggie."

Tae, still puzzled, asked, "Then why did it take you so long?"

"I bumped into Liam, he was up and told me about the ranch incident," I explained as I made my way to our bed and sat down beside him. Tae gazed at me, concern evident in his eyes, and inquired, "Are you feeling okay, Jimin?"

Confused, I responded, "Yeah, why'd you ask?"

Tae gently placed his hand on my forehead, "Your face is flushed, you might have a fever."

Assuring him, I said, "I'm okay, Tae. Let's just go back to sleep," hoping to ease his worry. After a brief moment, Tae nodded, accepting my answer, and drifted back to sleep. Before fully succumbing to slumber, Tae whispered, "Jimin, you've changed a lot."

Curious, I turned to him, asking, "Why do you say that?"

Tae hesitated for a moment before expressing, "You're keeping things from me. It feels like you're hiding something."

Feeling a pang of hurt, I sighed and responded, "I've never kept secrets from you, Tae. It's actually you who has been distant with me in the past few months. I had to hear about your dating from Namjoon; everyone in the group seems to know except for me."

Tae, taken aback, suggested, "This is all so strange. Let's discuss it later."

I woke up feeling rested and refreshed this morning. To my surprise, Taehyung was still fast asleep beside me, wrapped up in a blanket like a burrito. I tried nudging him awake, but all I got was a grunt and a turn to the other side.

Down in the kitchen, Rachel and Millie were busy whipping up breakfast. As soon as they spotted me, Rachel's face lit up with a smile, while Millie practically sprinted over for a hug, declaring how much she missed me. I chuckled and tousled her hair.

Ahanu then rushed down in his ranger uniform, mentioning his officer had summoned him urgently. He grabbed a bagel sandwich we had prepared and dashed off.

After a cozy breakfast, Rachel and Millie left for church, leaving me alone with Taehyung still in dreamland.

Decided to go see if Liam was awake, but then remembered that awkward moment from yesterday and thought maybe I'll just avoid him for now

I am in a comfy living room with a reading lamp casting a soft glow on the bookshelves. The air is filled with the scent of old paper and memories.

I check out the book cabinet by the wall, it's got a really nice honey-colored wooden frame and goes all the way up to the ceiling. The shelves are filled with a mix of books, some are well-organized and others look like they're about to tumble over with all their secrets.

I was just chilling on the couch, glasses on, legs crossed. I ran my fingers along the book spines, looking for some inspo or just a bit of an escape. The armchair was there too, but I decided to go with the couch today. Being close to the bookshelves just gave me that vibe of being surrounded by knowledge, you know?

Curious about what lies at the very top of the cabinet, there is a leather-bound tome that rests there. Its title remains hidden behind layers of dust and the challenge of distance. As I squint in an attempt to make out the faded gold letters, my intrigue grows. This book that piques my interest is a rare volume filled with forgotten myths and whispered legends. Unfortunately, it teases me just out of reach.
