The flight from Greece landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and Damon and Elena made their way through the bustling terminal. Damon's eyes scanned their surroundings, his senses alert despite the mundane setting, his confidence bolstered by the ring's power.

Elena walked with him, a mix of exhaustion and relief evident in her expression. She glanced at Damon, her hand finding his as they navigated through the crowds.

"We're finally back," Elena said softly, a tired but genuine smile gracing her lips.

Damon squeezed her hand gently. "Yeah, home sweet home," he replied, a hint of nostalgia in his voice.

After passing through customs, they headed towards the baggage claim, eager to retrieve their belongings and start the journey back to Asheville. After collecting their luggage, they stepped outside into the warm North Carolina air, the scent of pine and oak greeting them. Damon hailed a cab, and they climbed inside, ready to make the familiar trip back to Asheville.

The drive passed quickly, the rolling hills and lush greenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains gradually coming into view. Elena leaned against Damon, feeling a sense of comfort wash over her as they drew closer to home.

As they reached Asheville, Damon's phone buzzed with a text message. It was Sophie, checking in on their return.

"Everything okay?" Elena asked, noticing Damon's focused expression as he read the message.

Damon nodded, typing out a quick reply. "Yeah, just Sophie making sure we're back in town."

Their cab pulled up outside Nightshade Lounge, and they paid the driver before stepping out onto the sidewalk. The familiar sight of the bar brought a sense of calm to both Damon and Elena.

They pushed open the door and entered the dimly lit interior of Nightshade Lounge. The bar was empty, the early afternoon sunlight streaming through the windows casting long shadows across the floor.

Sophie emerged from the back room, a warm smile spreading across her face when she saw Damon and Elena. "Welcome back!" she exclaimed, hurrying over to greet them with a hug.

Elena smiled at Sophie and hugged her back. "Hi, Sophie. Thanks for holding down the fort while we were away."

Sophie waved off the thanks. "No problem at all. How was your trip?"

Damon glanced at Elena, sharing a knowing look before turning back to Sophie. "It was... eventful," he replied with a smirk.

Meanwhile, Marcus and Lina emerged from the kitchen, their faces lighting up when they spotted Damon and Elena.

"Hey, you two!" Marcus called out, a wide grin on his face.

"Welcome back!" Lina chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
