LOVE: Pain or Cure

4. The Encounter

I was getting ready for the birthday party. I have got ready in a black suit today.

Then, I got a call from Priya. She said that she was ready. I told that I was almost ready and will reach her place within 10 minutes. I have to go to her place, pick her up then we will head towards the party. 

The Aggarwal's had left in the morning. Now, it's evening. The party is at 4 o'clock. It's 3:50 right now. I went to her place and then we went to the Gupta mansion. Priya told me about the way to Gupta mansion. We reached there in about 20 minutes. 

Priya had brought a gift for her cousin Sameer. She told me that it's a watch. We went inside the mansion.She introduced me to Sameer. We greeted Sameer and his family. We wished him his birthday and gave him the gift. I then went outside to take a business call. 

I was getting ready for Sameer's birthday and saw that guests have started arriving. I increased my speed. I quickly did the makeup and wore my jewelry. Today, I am wearing a pink dress.

Then, I went downstairs. I wished Sameer his birthday and give him the gift. It was a photo frame of our Squad and Quad Squad was written on it. He thanked me. Then, Neeyat and Dhairya also wished him birthday. After that, we met some of his friends and cousins. Then, he introduced us to his cousin Priya Aggarwal. She is quite a good person. She told that she had come here with her boyfriend. He had gone out to attend a call. 

I don't know why but I am having a different feeling today. I think something is going to happen. I told this to Neeyat. She told that it can be due to the gathering as I usually avoid noisy and crowded places. I went outside to get some fresh air. Then, Dhairya called me inside. 

Author's POV

Kabir had gone inside after attending the call. He went towards Priya. "I want you to meet someone." She said and Kabir nodded. 

She took Kabir towards The Quad Squad. She introduced him to Neeyat and Dhairya. Samaira had gone to eat something. She came after sometime.

She came and stood near Dhairya. Priya came and told her to meet her boyfriend. She went with her towards Kabir.

"Kabir" She called out and hearing this name, Samaira became emotional but she controlled herself. Kabir was back facing them. She prayed that he's not someone she's thinking about. 

"Kabir, meet my friend Samaira Khanna!" hearing this Kabir turned back and saw Samaira. "Samaira, he's my boyfriend, Kabir Shekhawat." she said. Kabir was statrled after looking at Samaira after such a long time. Kabir started getting flashbacks of past but he controlled himself. He forwarded his hand and said, "Hello Miss Khanna, Nice meeting to you."

"Hello Mr. Shekhawat, Nice meeting to you too." Samaira shaked hands with him but he was not letting go of her hand. She then excused herself and went to the washroom. Tears had welled up in her eyes. She was not feeling good with the feeling of Kabir being with someone else, even if it's her friend. She still controlled herself and went towards her squad which was her safe place. 

Kabir had also excused himself. He went to the bar counter. He had a glass of wine. Memories of Samaira and him started flashing in his mind. 

Samaira was cleaning some dust on Dhairya's shirt.

"What happened Bandariya? mujhse kyu chipak rhe ho?" Dhairya said

(What happened Monkey? Why are you sticking with me?)

"Chimpanzee, tujhse chipke meri jooti. Dust lge hai tere suit per. Wo saaf kr rhe thi. km se km party mein to nya suit pehen ataa. Yaha bhi bhadhe ka suit pehen ayaa." 

(Chimpanzee, sticking with you, my foot! There was dust on your suit. I was cleaning it. Atleast, you could have worn a new suit here. Even in this party, you have worn a rented suit!)

"Shut up! It's my new suit." 

"Okay, dude!" Samaira said and went away. She could feel a heated gaze on her. When she looked there, she saw that Kabir was looking at her while drinking. They had an eye contact of a few seconds but Samaira everted her gaze. She was trying her best to ignore him. She did not want to be vulnerable in front of him as she had left him 3 years ago. She did not him to see that he still affects her.

Kabir had seen Samaira with Dhairya. From his perspective, it was looking like she was kissing him. He got jealous. He was using a lot of force while holding the glass such that the glass broke. No one noticed it as loud music was playing and Kabir was sitting in a corner. He was not able to handle the fact that Samaira was ignoring him. He thought that Samaira had moved on and had someone else in her life.
