Author's Note: Hey there, it's M! I've always wondered if I should write what happened to Julian, but dropped the idea once I started writing my new novel. (Warner Park, go check it out!) A lovely reader mentioned wondering about what happened to him, so... I got inspired to revisit this world, and write Julian's side of the story for a chapter. Here you go!

It's been a while since I've published The House, but I still love these characters... I never would have thought this story would reach so many readers, you all are awesome! My writing style has definitely evolved a little over the last few years. If you all are still interested in hearing even more about Julian's story, let me know... I could easily write a part two if there's interest. Or give him a spin-off?

Thank you for 4k reads on The House!

<3 M

Update 6.14.24: Julian's spin-off novel and book two of this two book series, The Cabin, is now being published chapter by chapter. Enjoy!

Update 6.26.24: The Cabin is now complete. Don't forget to check out that short novel for the conclusion to the boys' story!

Julian unpacked his bags, throwing the largest duffel over the couch and sliding onto the wooden floor -- figures, he missed.

"Sweetheart, can you not throw your things, please? We just had the wood floors refinished." His mom yelled from the kitchen. Julian shuffled in his white socks over to the duffel bag, picking it up and placing it gently on the couch cushions.

"Thank you." Came her response. How'd she even know? She didn't even turn around.

He was moving back in with his parents.

What were you supposed to do when you realized you fell out of love with someone you've been with so long?

And that person was the only one you've ever been with?!

Julian fucked up.

He ended up doing absolutely nothing about it. He was a coward.

It all led to him developing a crush on Ethan's best friend, Liam, which then ended up blowing up in his face completely after the 'yelling out Liam's name in bed' incident.

Shit, he still couldn't believe that happened. Or that Morgan heard it. Or that Liam found out about it.

It was honestly over after that...

It took forever for things to completely fall apart, but it was never right between Ethan and Julian ever again. That was the end. The whole thing had been humiliating, honestly, and Julian ran away.

He really didn't know what else to do. Ethan deserved better than him. Julian knew it devastated Ethan, but he tried not to think about it. Honestly, it was better to rip off the bandaid. Go cold turkey. Just run. Ethan was going to be okay without him, he was better off.

So that's what he did.

Ethan was the first person he ever loved. The first guy he ever asked out. His first kiss. His first everything. Julian had never broken up before. Obviously, yes, he'd handled the whole thing terribly. He had no idea what the fuck he was doing.

"Oh, Julian, can you please go get the mail? I'm expecting something from work." His mom yelled out again, the sink running as she tackled dishes from breakfast.

Julian grunted.

"Don't give me attitude, Julian --"

"I'm going."
