"Haaaa..."

It was the fifth trap that he checked, and it was also the fifth trap that was completely destroyed overnight. Cale couldn't help but let out a sigh. He had woken up in a good mood, but that good mood wavered when he checked on the first trap he set the day before.

His good mood wavered further when the next trap he checked yielded the same results, and by the time he checked on the fith and final trap he set up, his good mood had all but disappeared

The traps he set up using the few resources nature provided as well as what he could get his hands on were in pieces - literally. It looked as though a wolf had crushed the traps under its feet... except for the fact that a wolf couldn't have done that, at least, not a normal sized wolf

Getting up from his crouched position, Cale decided that the best course of action would be to search for anything that would either prove or disprove his theories, ofcourse he prefers it to be the latter

Fwoosh!

Tap

Bang!

Cale flinched at the sudden increase of noise. He could see a few birds flying up, up, and right over him

Boom.

Of course the monster would show itself just as he was hoping it didn't actually exist. He felt the urge to sigh and roll his eyes, but didn't, he needed to pay attention to his surroundings, and if he was right, he couldn't afford to draw the monsters attention with unnecessary noise

Boom

Cale jumped up into a tree and hid in its foliage. He was right, he decided. There is definitely something out there, and it didn't sound pleasant

"Rrrr"

The growls he hears is proof of the monster being nearby. It seems he won't have to go searching for it after all

Sniff sniff

Cale forced his rapidly beating heart to slow down and slowed his breathing to the point of him being near impossible to hear

Sniff sniff

Cale's breath caught in his throat as he saw the monster move its head right beside him. At this point, it would see him if it so much as moved its head slightly to the left. It certainly doesn't help that his left side happened to be a blind spot

With the monster this close, he could see the blood dripping down its teeth as it growls quietly. He could smell death from those jaws that were nearly as big as him, and the fear in his heart kept him quiet against all odds

Rustle, rustle

Cale felt as though his heart jumped out of his chest when the monster snapped its head in the direction of the noise and ran with blinding speed into the forest

Cale couldn't afford to stay, and so with speed and stealth he didn't know he was capable of, he ran to his lackluster campsite

Pat pat

Cale knew the monster would find him eventually, and he wasn't sure if he could reach the safety of a village before then, so he was searching for anything that could be of use, unfortunately he didn't have much

One by one, he thought of what he could use and formed a plan in his head, making use of what he had. The items he had were the dagger, a wooden spear, a fork, knife, spoon, three porcelain plates, a few coins, a matchbox, and the tablecloth he turned into a hammock
