After getting cleaned up, Sonic and Shadow were back to their usual selves. Strange rivalry with an obvious connection. Sonic was taking a much needed nap while Shadow looked around. He thought that it was strange that Sonic's house wasn't a complete mess and that he actually had good taste in furniture.
"Do you live here with him?" Shadow asked Tails.
"No, I just hang out here often. He doesn't like it when my inventions take up space in his house. It makes him feel claustrophobic." Tails explained, pulling a blanket over Sonic.
"He's... claustrophobic?"
"I guess so. He's never very straightforward with his words anymore but he does give hints to it."
"That... actually makes a lot of sense. Why isn't he sleeping in his room though?"
"Because he didn't want me following him in,"
"Really? I thought you guys were best friends."
"We are, he just doesn't feel comfortable with people being in his room."
"Ah..." Shadow nodded, his phone ringing. He saw that it was a phone call from you and answered.
"Hey, Shadow! I heard what happened, are you boys okay?" You asked with a hint of concern in your voice.
"Yes mom/dad..." Shadow replied sarcastically in annoyance.
"C'mon, Shadow. I'm just checking on you guys, be grateful that I care, Shads. Well, I have to get back to work now. Take care." You said before hanging up.
"Who was that?" Tails asked.
"It was Y/N, they just wanted to make sure me and Sonic were okay," Shadow replied nonchalantly.
"Oh, well that's nice of them. I can understand why they'd be worried."
Shadow looked at Tails then replied with a skeptical tone, "Why? Because it's starting to get really annoying. And I mean REALLY annoying."
"Because they would hate to see you and Sonic get hurt. It's very common for humans to worry about the people they love and want to protect them, it's a sign of affection, Shadow." Tails explained to Shadow. Now that it made more sense, Shadow decided to rest on the couch before there was a knock at the door.
"Ugh... You open the door, Miles..." Shadow muttered before Tails got up and opened the door.
"Uh... Shadow? You're not gonna believe me on this but..."
"...WHAT?!" He yelled, waking up Sonic. "Dammit... Sorry, Sonic,"
"It's fine... But who's at the door?" Sonic asked.
"Everyone... Well, almost everyone," Tails replied.
"What? Why?"
"Good question," Tails nodded. "why are you guys here?"
"Well, I was getting bored," Rouge said.
"I came to check on you!" Amy explained.
"I'm here because you and Shadow are here," Silver said before Blaze added on to him.
"I'm here because Silver is here."
"I'm here to see my buddies!" Knuckles yelled.
"Uhh... Okay, hi?" Sonic chuckled.
"Hello, rodent!" A mysterious voice said.
"EGGMAN?!" Everyone yelled in unison.
"What're you doing here?!" Sonic growled.
"Just wanted to see my biggest rival during his downfall!" Eggman exclaimed.
"...What?" Sonic, Silver and Shadow asked.
"Literally all I have is a bloody nose, I'm fine. And you can't take me on when almost all of my friends are here."
"You make a fair point there, hedgehog. Well... I'll get you next time, Sonic The Hedgehog!"
"Sureee, whatever you say, egghead."
"Well, that was weird." Silver said.
"Really? We didn't know." Everyone except for Silver replied.
"Wow, I'm so smart!"
"WE WERE BEING SARCASTIC!!" Shadow yelled.
