Laundry Day

Tails woke up and walked towards Sonic's room before knocking on the door. “Sonic? You in there?” No response. Tails knocked again, this time a little louder but not too loud as to not startle Sonic if he was still sleeping. “Sonic?” Once again, there was no response. Tails stood there for a moment before opening the door. “Are you asleep?” As he got closer he saw that Sonic wasn't in bed and assumed that he'd already woken up.

“I don't get what Amy keeps complaining about, this actually isn't that bad!” Sonic said to himself. Tails heard his voice coming from outside and wondered what he was talking about. He followed the voice of Sonic and found him doing some laundry.

“Since when did you start doing laundry?” Tails chuckled, leaning against the wall. Sonic dropped his cape back into the bucket of soapy water and looked at Tails.

“Since today, and I'm only doing it so I have something to wear for the party. So don't expect much out of me!” Sonic replied, taking his cape back out of the soapy water to rinse it off. “Oh, and can you find Shadow and ask for his Royal King outfit? I know he's gonna wear that and he hasn't cleaned that thing in a WHILE!”

“Sure, but I thought it was clean? I mean, it sure does smell clean,”

“Trust me, if he didn't spray that thing it would STINK! And I know that from experience...”

“Whatever you say, Sonic.” Tails shook his head, not really believing Sonic.

“No.” Shadow said in a nonchalant, cold tone.

“Wh- What do you mean, no?!” Tails asked, thinking that Shadow's behavior was unbelievable.

“I said no, do you want to hear it in Japanese?”

“No, that'd be unnecessary and a waste of time. So tell me, why won't you let Sonic wash your Royal King outfit?” Tails asked in a slightly more agitated voice.

“Because he'll ruin it, everything of mine that he touches he'll end up ruining it.”

“C'mon, give it a shot! Plus, what would Y/N say if you didn't show up to your own party in a freshly cleaned outfit?”

“Ugh, fine. I'll go get it.” Shadow left to go to his closet before returning with his Royal King outfit, the crown and gloves included. “Here, happy now?”

“Very much, thanks Shadow!”

When Tails returned with Shadow's Royal King outfit, Sonic was taking a break. Eating a delicious, fresh chilli dog. “Hey, Sonic! I'm back with Shadow's Royal King outfit!”

“What took you so long?” Sonic asked between bites of his chilli dog.

“What do you think? You know how stubborn Shadow is. It took a lot of persuasion just to get him to not punch me.” Tails replied before handing Sonic the outfit.

“Oh yeah, I forgot that he doesn't really like you...”

“Do you know why?”

“No.”

You were working on some stuff yourself, gifts, decorations, and all the other stuff you'd find at a party. You had a feeling that just this once, Shadow wouldn't punt Tails across the room. After getting things set up you decided to call Sonic.

The phone rang for what felt like an eternity before Sonic finally answer.
“Y/N, hey! How are you? What are you doing? Something fun? Can I help?”

“Calm down Sonic! I'm just finishing up getting things ready for the party,” You replied, attempting to get Sonic to stop bombarding you with questions.

“Already? It's so early! The party's like... Next week!” Sonic yelled back into the phone.

“It's not that early, at least I'm not like malls getting ready for Easter in September.”

“Okay you actually have a good point there... Anyways, I'm busy, can I call you back later?”

“Sure, as long as you actually do this time.”

“I will!” When Sonic said those words you immediately rolled your eyes before saying goodbyes and hanging up.

“Sonic can be such a handful, jeez...”

A/n: Sorry this is such a short chapter, I have low motivation and had to rewrite it from scratch. Also I started school nearly 4 weeks ago and already have TONS of homework so the next chapter will probably come out before December and hopefully mid November or earlier.
