“NO!” Sonic cried in fear. Shadow turned to look at him, already worried enough as it was; Sonic's fearful voice only fueled his worry.

“Sonic?! Are you alright? What happened?” He asked in concern, walking over to check on Sonic.

"I'm sorry, I just... I just had a nightmare...” Sonic replied, lightly shivering on his bed.

“About what?” Shadow said in a gentle, comforting voice as he carefully moved to sit on Sonic's bed.

“Uhm.. about uh... About my past...” Sonic mumbled.

“About Longclaw, huh?” The room filled with an uncomfortable silence for a few moments before Shadow spoke up again. “Sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset. I know that feeling, trust me I do. Remember, if you need anything, I'm here for you. We're all here.” Sonic smiled faintly before hugging Shadow tightly.

“Thank you, Shadow. I didn't know how much I needed that until now... But one more thing, why are you in my room?”

“Oh, I was told to watch you. So I did,”

Sonic sighed. “You didn't look through my stuff, did you?”

“Of course not, that'd be an invasion of privacy. I'm not as nosy as you are.”

“Hey! I'm not that nosy!”

“Sure you aren't...”

TIMESKIP: 1 hour

It had been an hour since their last interaction and Shadow was beginning to become partly worried. “I wonder if Sonic's okay, I haven't heard from him for a while.” Shadow thought to himself. He walked towards Sonic's room and knocked on the door. “Sonic? You in there? I haven't seen or heard you in a while,” There was a few moments of silence before there was a faint response.

“Shadow? That you?” Sonic called out. Before Shadow could reply there was a silent thud sound. “Damn...”

“What happened?” Shadow asked.

“Oh, nothing... Just my entire shelf fell,” there was a few moments of silence before Shadow finally spoke up.

“What?! What do you mean your entire shelf fell?! Wasn't it bolted to the wall?!”

“Uh... Not good enough, apparently!” Sonic chuckled nervously.

Shadow sighed. “I'm coming to check on you.”

“Wha- What do you mean you're coming to check on me-” Sonic said before Shadow bursted through the door.

“Holy- You weren't kidding, Sonic,” Shadow looked at the complete mess beside Sonic's bed. “You're lucky that crap didn't hit you, Sonic, you could've had a concussion!”

“I guess luck is just naturally on my side, Shadow!” Sonic winked at Shadow before getting out of bed.

“Sometimes I just don't understand you... Oh, and by the way, how'd you sleep?”

“I slept pretty good!”

“How long?”

“Like 8-9 hours, maybe?”

“Really? Good. Your friends will be glad, they kept complaining to me about you not getting enough sleep.”

“Why you? Eggman's the one keeping me from a good night's rest these past few days, they should be complaining to him!” Shadow chuckled at Sonic's rant, leaving him puzzled. “What so funny? You never laugh— or smile this much!”

“It's nothing, Sonic. Don't worry about it,”

“I mean, if you say so,”

“Go down to eat before your Chilli Dogs turn into Chilly Dogs, I'll work on your shelf.”

“Alright, later Shads!”
