The Green Hill group chat had been silent for hours, not a single person had even bothered to type out at sentence on their keyboard. Shadow was hanging out with Rouge and Omega, and Sonic was using TikTok on his phone.
"Hey, Tails!" Sonic called out.
"Yeah, Sonic?" Tails replied.
"Did you know that this year is Year of Shadow?"
"Really?" Tails flew into the room. "I didn't know such a thing existed! Cool!"
"Why don't they have a year for me?" Sonic asked in a sort of whiny voice.
"Hey, they don't have a year for me either!"
"Yeah but you're just the really smart itty bitty sidekick. Plus, Shadow could barely beat me in a fight back in the shatterspaces!"
"In the what?"
"Nevermind, it's not important." Sonic replied before coming across a video of Maria. When Tails and Sonic heard the audio their jaws dropped.
"I- Omg I am trolling Shadow with this one!"
"No! Sonic!" Tails protested against Sonic. Unfortunately for Tails, he wasn't quick enough and the video was sent to the Green Hill group chat.
TIMESKIP: 2 Hours later
Once Shadow had left Rouge's cave he checked out the notifications on his phone. He rolled his eyes when he saw it was from the Green Hill group chat. Although out of boredom, he opened the chat and saw the video but ignored it and read the most recent texts.
"What're you stupid dweebs talking about?" Shadow asked.
"Nothing!" Tails replied in a panic.
"Okay. What about Sonic?"
"Sonic? Oh, he's offline right now. He said he'll be back soon."
"Not surprised. I'm going to check out that so called TikTok that he sent."
"I don't think you should..." Tails warned Shadow. But it was too late, he'd already clicked on it.
"Heya guys! Guess who's back?" Sonic returned
"Sonic." Shadow replied.
"Yep! That's me!"
"You have a 3 second headstart. Actually, make it 1."
"For what?" Sonic replied before Shadow went offline.
"Uh.. Sonic?" Tails asked.
"Yeah?"
"I think you should check your window..."
"Why? Oh my god, OH MY GOD."
"What? What do you see?"
"IT'S SHADOW!! SORRY MILES, GOTTA RUN!" Sonic shoved his phone into his pocket and ran off.
"Sonic, WAIT!"
TIMESKIP: 30 Minutes later
"You can't run forever, Sonic!" Shadow exclaimed.
"Yes I can! Watch me!" Sonic replied, running fast enough to create a sonic boom and stun Shadow for a few seconds.
"SCREW YOU SONIC!" Shadow yelled in anger as he got back up and began to chase Sonic again.
"Would you like to bet on that?"
"WHAT?" Sonic snickered before seeing Amy.
"Hey, Amy!"
"Hey, Sonic! What are you doing?" Amy asked.
"Playing a friendly game of tag with the edgy hedgie!"
"...Who?"
"Shadow, obviously!"
"I AM NOT AN EDGY HEDGIE!" Shadow yelled before seeing a tree ahead of Sonic.
"Yes you areee~"
"SONIC WATCH OUT-" Both Amy and Shadow yelled, but it was too late for Sonic to stop and he hit the tree making him lose his rings.
"Dammit! Not the rings!" Sonic got up and collected his rings.
"You good, Oggie?" Shadow asked.
"Do NOT call me that!" Sonic replied, anger present in his tone.
"Sure, sure, but still-"
"Are you okay? It looked like that hurt..." Amy finished Shadow's sentence.
"I'm fine, Ames," Sonic leaned against the tree for support, turning around to look at Shadow and Amy.
"Your bleeding..." Amy and Shadow said in unison.
"Chill guys, it's not a head injury, just a bloody nose."
"Chill out?! I'm not chilling out after what you sent in the damn group chat!" Shadow yelled.
"Ugh... You're still mad about that? C'mon, dude, it's just a video. I didn't mean any harm!" Shadow stared at Sonic intensely.
"I'm serious, Shads!"
"Then apologize and delete the message,"
"Fine... I'm sorry Shadow.," Sonic replied as he pulled out his phone and deleted the video.
"Next time you send something about Maria I won't go so easy on you."
"Okay, I get it, don't worry I won't do it again."
"Good, now that you boys have apologized let's get you two cleaned up," Amy said.
"In the water?!"
"Obviously in the water, dweeb."
"Ugh, I hate water..."
