Just as Sonic got up from the table, he heard a knock at the door before it opened. He ran to the door, immediately knowing who it is.
“TAILS!” Sonic exclaimed happily. “Where were you?!” He looked at Tails with a mix of worry and confusion in his eyes. “You weren't there when Shadow woke me up,”
“Oh, Shadow didn't tell you? I assumed he did. Nevermind about that, I'll get to the point. I went back to my workshop to repair a few things,” Tails replied calmly. “Speaking of Shadow... Where is he? Y/N wanted to see him,”
“Shadow? He's busy fixing my shelf, it kinda collapsed earlier. I don't think I did that great of a job on it...” Sonic chuckled nervously before Shadow came up behind him.
“I asked if you wanted help setting it up and you said no. Now look at what's happened! Oh, hey Shadow,”
“I overheard you say Y/N wanted to see me?” Shadow said, completely ignoring Tails' greeting.
“Bit rude of you to ignore my greeting but yeah, they do. They're at the Loop-de-loop.”
“Kay, you can continue with Sonic's shelf I suppose. Later losers.” Shadow replied before teleporting away in a blip.
“How in Mobius do you manage to put up with that jerk, Sonic?” Sonic shrugged in response.

“Oh, Shadow! Glad to see you!” You greeted Shadow happily.
“What did you have the fox alert me for? Something stupid, I'd assue,” Shadow replied in his usual cold tone.
“Well, I was wondering if you'd be interested in having a party next week. Not for anything in particular but it could be a Fearless Year of Shadow party, what do you think? Intrested?” You asked, adding the last part to make it more appealing to the anthropological hedgehog. “Think of it as a late birthday party for you and Sonic. And while you're at it, could you tell Sonic too? Thanks, buddy.”
“Sure, I suppose... But I expect the food to be made exactly how it was on the ark!” You rolled your eyes and chuckled at Shadow's response, finding it adorable how he felt the need to state that.
“What're you laughing about?!”
“Nothing, don't worry about it. Anyways, I gotta go now, mind tossing a ring for me?” Shadow groaned, reluctant to throw the ring but he knew you had to get home. After a couple of moments, Shadow pulled out a ring and tossed it in front of you.
“There. You can go home now, bye.” You waved to Shadow before stepping through and making your way home.

Back at home, you started planning games and activities for the party. You included as many things as you possibly could, wanting everyone to enjoy their time there. By the time you finished it was already past midnight. « I really need to work on a better sleep schedule, this obviously isn't working... You thought to yourself, sighing before closing your laptop and deciding to call it a night.

Sonic was having trouble falling asleep for two reasons, the first reason being Shadow informing him about the fact that you were planning a party, the second reason being that he was still paranoid about his shelf after what had happened earlier that day.
“Ugh! Why does he have to tell me this stuff right before bed?! There's no way he just forgot if he was told to tell me hours ago! Knowing him it was probably out of spite. He knows I can't sleep whenever I'm excited!” Sonic rambled to his ceiling where he had a poster of himself.
Tails heard Sonic rambling and got up from his bed, beginning to make his way towards Sonic's room. Once he got there he knocked on the door and "politely" said, “SONIC, SHUT UP! I CAN HEAR YOU FROM MY ROOM!” Sonic jumped at the sound of Tails' voice before apologizing.
“Sorry, buddy! I didn't mean to be so loud, you know how I am sometimes!”
“A little too well, I'd say. Anyways, go to sleep or at least try to. Else I'm not letting you stay a my place when you need a breather,” Sonic gasped at Tails' words.
“You wouldn't dare! Then in that case, goodnight.”
“Night, Sonic. And please, for the love of God and for the sake of my ears, keep your mouth shut tonight and starting now.” Sonic stayed silent, pressumably agreeing to the "challenge" Tails had tasked him with.

Shadow found Sonic hanging out on his couch and scrolling through his social media feed, most likely waiting for Tails to finish up getting ready for bed.
“Sonic,” Shadow said firmly, startling Sonic enough for him to drop his phone on his face.
“Ow, shit! The fuck do you want?” Sonic cursed, something rare to hear. When Shadow heard Sonic curse his eyes widened in surprise and he gasped.
“Okay one, tone it down with the cursing we don't want to end up being rated PG-13 and two, Y/N told me to tell you that they're planning a party for next week.”
“Since when are you one to talk about cursing- Wait, WHAT?!” Sonic's eyes widened with a mix of shock and amazement before Shadow teleported away without even saying bye. “Shadow? Shadow! Are you fucking kidding me?! This is the ninth time you've done this this month!” Tails heard Sonic and gasped at the fact that he heard the Sonic T. Hedgehog curse.
“Sonic did you just curse?!”
“IT'S JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR F-” Tails cut Sonic off by throwing a pen at him. “...You're kidding me.”

Ugh... I still can't sleep... I should think about what I'm going to wear for the party. Should I wear pants? Nah, supposed to think of it as a birthday party for me and Shads so... Oh, I know! I'll wear my birthday cape! Sonic thought to himself before getting up from his bed a hurrying over to his closet to grab his birthday cape. Never too early to do laundry! Sonic chuckled to himself.

A/N: mb for being gone for so long, I'm on vacation and I'm offline pretty often so I can't really publish much. I also had a bit of writers block but thanks to one of my friends for giving me the brilliant idea of there being a party! Anyways, to clear things up, this universe is sort of a blend of Sonic Boom and the second Sonic movie minus the Wachowskis because they don't exist here. This is an AU made for THIS STORY!
