ANGIE HAD BARELY SLEPT the night after her first date with Ollie. She was too busy running through the night in her head, thinking of every little perfect moment. Holding his hand, talking about anything and everything, riding on his back, kissing him. Part of Angie still couldn't believe it. There was simply no way that she had gone from meeting Ollie outside a dingy club bathroom less than three months ago to kissing him on their first date.
Half her mind was convinced that she was stuck in some long dream that she was bound to wake up from any time soon.
Angie had gone to sleep way too late the night before. After debriefing the entire date to her father and Hannah, she had retreated to her room, only to receive a call from Mina, where she had once again debriefed the entire date, that time in much more detail. By the time she fell asleep, it was past one in the morning, and Ollie would be arriving at eight.
After getting a sold five hours of sleep (it always took her ages to fall asleep), Angie pulled herself out of bed with a massive yawn. Ollie would be arriving in ten minutes, and she hadn't even brushed her teeth.
Angie's getting ready that morning was limited. She pulled her mess of a hair into a ponytail, brushed her teeth, changed out of her pajamas into another pair of pajamas, and washed her face. She didn't bother with makeup, though she did still spritz herself with her perfume. She had read somewhere online to always wear perfume when hanging out with a guy. Who was she to argue?
Angie was sprinting around her room, tidying up her clothes that were spilling out of her suitcase, when the doorbell rang loudly. Angie slid out of her room on her fluffy socks, sprinting down the stairs to open the front door, but her father beat her to it. Ollie stood behind the front door, dressed comfortably in plaid pajamas and a winter coat, holding what looked like a wrapped gift in his hands.
"Hey!" Angie hopped down the last few steps, pushing her father out of the way so she was standing in front of the door instead. "Come in!"
Seb rolled his eyes, patting Angie on the shoulder, before walking up the stairs to his own bedroom. When Hannah got back from dropping the girls off at school, the two of them would be going out gift shopping, leaving the house empty for Angie and Ollie until they returned.
Ollie pulled off his coat, hanging it next to Angie's, before bending down to take off his sneakers. Under his coat, he wore a gray crew neck, New York written in print across the front.
"You ever been to New York?" Angie asked, tilting her head slightly.
"No..."
"You should come visit me then." Angie laughed, leading the way into the living room, which was decorated thoroughly with Christmas decor.
Angie flopped herself onto the couch, propping her feet up on the coffee table next to the gifts she had prepared for Ollie. Neither of them had ever said they would be exchanging gifts, but it seemed they had both had the same thought, if the wrapped gift in Ollie's hand was any indication.
Ollie set the gift down on the table, sitting himself next to Angie on the couch, turning his body so he was facing her. He stayed silent for a moment, letting his eyes scan over the side of Angie's face. Both of the other times he had seen her in person, she had been wearing makeup, however subtle it was (honestly, the only reason he could tell was because he had seen her apply it during their morning calls). But it was details that the camera didn't pick up, like the small scar under her eye, and the slight spattering of freckles on her nose that told him she wasn't wearing any. Ollie furrowed his eyebrows slightly, trying to inspect Angie's cheek without looking like a weirdo. He hadn't realized she had freckles.
