Hansley: Temptation from a Prince

Within the moment

   I was sipping my tea in the drawing room while chatting it up with my siblings. I am to be married in less than a week and this will be the last time I will be living in the Hansley's estate. I know I will swing by whenever I am in town to see the family. My sisters were talking about what they desire in a man. I couldn't help having an expression on my face when my sister spoke of certain men in the town. I hope they will find their match in this godforsaken town full of old men. The young men don't want to be married and those who do are questionable. Marie was running around with our brother James as they mock one another. Mother was busy planning a ball for tonight to make a mark for this season with my nuptials coming up soon. Liam was reading a book dealing with the issues of women in this society which broadened his mindset about women in this society. Victoria begins to tell Liam that women in this society will always be mere cattles no matter what.

Eloise didn't understand how Victoria and I can speak negatively about marriage and our roles in society. Eloise is a naive girl and I didn't want to spoil her mindset about the society we live in as women. Eloise believes in love and that will be her moment to see how men see women. Eleanor believes in love, but she wasn't that naive like Eloise because she knows that women must live through their men. Women have to conceal the parts of who they are just to fit in a society who finds outspoken women too ill-mannered.

Simon always tells me that I'm the first person he ever met with a strong-willed mind. Some may view it as ill-manner, but I view it as a woman in society who is not naive to the rules of men. Men believe that they are the rulers of the world, but women are the future. Men want us to feed into their delusions of being the greatest person in the world. I barely can see a man run a country without being feeble. Queen Elizabeth I ruled England for a longtime without a husband.

I know mother is wondering why neither of us are helping her with the planning and decorations for the ball tonight. We were too busy having a discussion about women and their places in society while our two other siblings were mocking/teasing one another.

''At least I'm smarter.'' Marie mocks James.

''At least I'm cuter.'' James mocks Marie. Marie and James sat down next to Eloise as they picked up the same biscuit. ''Give it to me.'' Marie stared down at James. James shouted as he demanded that Marie give him the cookie.

''I pick it up.'' Marie refuses to let the cookie go. Luke rings the bell to bring more biscuits including sandwiches. I never really like biscuits because Charlie and Luke prank me into a batch of biscuits which cause an upset stomach.

I prefer sandwiches where they make me happy when they are going into my stomach. I couldn't help but think about the night Simon and I shared while I was sitting here listening to my siblings talk about random things.We wanted to go out to play a game of croquet. We all rushed to get our mallet to play the game while Marie and James went outside to sit out on the terrace fighting about sandwiches and biscuits. Mother was curious why the house seems so still and quiet until she walks into the drawing room. She saw the room empty which was surprisingly shocking because the drawing room is our favorite place in the house.

''When you are married, sister, I would love to come see you at your new place.'' Eleanor says.

''All will be invited.'' I would love to have my family come see my new home when I am done settling in. I know I will be sad when I leave home because I'm so used to home and being around Hansley's family. Now I will be starting a new family with Simon. Now I see what mother is talking about when she left home after she was married. She must've been worried that she won't be around as much as she used to be.

The game got competitive in a quick second with Charlie at Luke's throat to win. Charlie loves winning as Luke while Liam is on the chiller side of losing or winning at croquet. It was so funny to see my brothers all heated just because one of them will lose today. I concede when I realize my brothers have taken it to another level. Eleanor remains in the game including Victoria. Victoria will make sure they don't win because she was this close to Luke while Liam and Eleanor fell behind her. Eloise concedes to sitting down as she watches Marie and James truly fight like brother and sister.
